Yeah we've got a volvo estate but my kids are 7 and 6 (Twins are 6) so we can get away with just booster seats.

We had a 2.3l petrol galaxy a while back and the cost was crucifying, OH has now decided he wants a 7 seat Landrover (will have to be old, out budget's not much more than yours) though I'm trying to get him to buy a diesel galaxy or similar cos I really don't want to be seen as a dozy tart in a chelsea tractor :o

our 2 eldest are 8 & 7 so are in booster seats, still only just get them in with baby in cary seat, so will be much tighter when he goes into car seat which will be wider

With that kinda use you should probably consider the effective mileage a bit higher then, IYSWIM, as towing puts much more strain on clutch, engine etc, but still sounds pretty good.
Have you driven it? As its a diesel you shouldn't worry about it being a 2.5. Won't feel anything like a 2.5 petrol, if that's what you're thinking.

    EDIT: Are you sure its a 2.5? Not a 2.0? Parkers reckons a 2.5 zafira doesn't exist.

not seen it yet, but he tells me it is a 2.5l, so assume he is correct

    I'd say that's a bargain. I just bought a T reg Astra Estate for £1200 although it's an automatic.

if it is a smaller engine size all the better

and i know what you mean about him using it to pull his speedboat, but he only had it just over a month, so probably used it no more than 2-3 times to pull the speedboat, so would not think it would have done to much to it, and thats all he ever uses it for, rest of time it has just sat in his garage as he does not like driving it, and it has only had 2 owners from new, so in theory should be pretty decent, hopefully i get to look at it tomorrow, as he is buying a jeep to pull his speedboat, hence the reason he is gonna sell it to me, as long as the jeep is ok that is

The point is there is no such car as a 2.5 litre Zafira diesel and it would seem rather odd that the owner doesnt know that.

Early ones were 1.9TDs and later cars were 2.0DI's.

Also, this car seems very cheap. Too cheap TBH.

they dont do a 2.5 zafira.

My money is on it being a 2.5 FRONTERA which they also did with a 7 seater LWB option.

If it is a frontera i wouldn't touch it with a very big stick.

    +1. I suspect its a Frontera.

Buying and selling again within a month means hes either a dealer or hes found something horrendous wrong with it...

    Still sounds too cheap though.

i'd agree with pgilc1 here - the frontera is a dog of a car and there is probably something wrong with it if he is selling so quickly, epsecially when buying a similar vehicle (jeep) to replace it.

One thing that puts me off my older cars full stop is the presence of a towbar!

However, if it doesnt bother you, go for it.

Sounds like you've had a good look, have you checked it mechanically as well as cosmetically?

If you have and you're satisfied, dont let what some people think is a really low price, (i dont) put you off.

    Good luck.

EDIT: Just read one of your later posts and you say you've not seen it yet!!!!!!

Disregard everything i've said; could be worth £700, might be a complete lemon!

I would check a car over before i went asking peoples opinion on price!
