Lets not forget there are two sides to a story

They are also some assh0le sellers who deceive buyers and or rip them off too
There are many private sellers on ebay, who dont quite understand the rules, risks etc.

Many items are listed as postage 1st/2nd class standard.

Am i right in saying that all the assh0le buyers can just make a claim against not receiving any of these items, no matter of its value and they will win. They will either get a refund or two of everything they buy.

So essentially if you are an assh0le buyer, there are lots of freebies on ebay.

I know its up to the sellers to organise trackable postage, but some dont know?

    Thoughts please.

Do you really think ebay changed all the rules because they just like buyers.
It's far more likely the increase in assh0le sellers was driving the customers away, and ebay was losing profits.
If what that have done drives sellers away, I'm sure it will change back.
If it doesn't, it shows which side had a bigger propertion of assh0les, and that ebay's business model works for ebay.

    Not notice? Is that likely?

Possibly, depending on the volume and regularity of purchases........

Well, it kind of goes without saying that all the scammers that used to be sellers on ebay would have had to do something else now that ebay increased buyer protection, so why not become a scam buyer instead. Obviously most buyers are genuine though.
Think of it like this, instead of being scammed out of cash for a non existent 360, you now run the risk of being scammed out of the 360 that you are selling, nothings changed really :D

I do think some people are having a bad day, all this talk of everyone being out to scam.

Luckily I'm sitting here wrapping , listing and responding to some lovely emails from buyers and tomorrow morning I will pull a good healthy profit worth of cash out of my paypal account to pay towards my next holiday.

I can only assume i am using a different ebay to you lot.

No, same one as me I'm pleased to say.
As a buyer, one item sent to me missing so far,
and I've never had to leave a negative for anyone.

    You're lucky :p

The problem with ebay is that items have 2 values: What an item's worth, and what a seller thinks it's worth. With dodgy sellers, if it goes for less than what they view as a reasonable price they won't send it and just say it's "Lost in the post", or just ignore you completely.

We've got 3 claims to open this week for INR items. One item is a Gamecube game worth in excess of £40... won it for £18 including P+P. That seller said we hadn't paid even though the payment went through via ebay (trying to get £36, I assume), and he hasn't done anything since. No replies to messages, no item in the post...wasn't even marked dispatched.
That'll be another neg we'll have to leave in a few days.

Obviously for every bad seller, there's an outstanding one that will do everything perfectly, and for every seller like the Gamecube bloke above there are probably a couple of hundred that will grumble a bit to themselves about the price, but then get on with sending the item.

The same goes for buyers. For every one that comes along and thinks "Hmm, not signed for. I'll lie about that not arriving" there'll be hundreds of buyers that are...well.. normal and only say it didn't turn up for things that actually do get lost (or aren't sent in the first place).

I think what you sell probably plays a large part in whether your likely to get scammed as a seller also, if you sell iphones for example your likely to be on the scam radar, whereas if you sell used paperbacks, not so much so.

I am a buyer and most of the stuff I buy from ebay is sent untracked due to the value, but I have never falsely claimed something has not turned up?, there was an incident at xmas where I waited about 3 weeks for something that cost only 99p and it didn't turn up so the seller sent me another, then I found the item a few weeks ago on the chair of my patio furniture (that has a huge cover on it over the winter), so I emailed the seller to let them know and paid again for the additional item.

I would think that if a buyer is constantly opening disputes and claiming then surely ebay would become suspicious that they were working the system?

I am sure there are some buyers out there that do do this but the majority I believe are just honest people trying to get a bit of a bargain

But there is no risk to the buyer here is there? You'll get your money back, the seller will get a neg and a strike and won't last much longer.

I can't really see a problem apart from some annoyance to you.
