Not being able to pay contract on mobile.

Sell the phone on eBay, use that money to pay off the remaining contract.0

Ring vodafone, or maybe better yet email the web team they are far better at sorting out issues than anyone else at vodafone in my experience.
If you tell them they might be able to put the contract on hold for a short time, however you are right if payments are missed without an agreements then after 3 missed payments they will default on you and place a default that lasts for 6 years on your report.
I take it you have no emergency fund of savings?Vodafone_company_representative wrote: »Hi

Vodafone UKAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Well if he has paid up till this point the account won't be overdue? Then with the money from selling the phone put that to one side and use it to pay for your contract. If the account is overdue by a few months, Vodafone would most likely place an IMEI bar on the phone if it is used with an alternative SIM card.0 -
I wouldnt get anything for it on ebay as its not even working fully. it turns itself off, its really slow and the camera doesnt work. Ive emailed Vodafone but Im not sure what theyll be able to do.
I have no savings or emergency funds either and dont really want to ask anyone to help me out with it as Ive already borrowed from family with being off work ill.0 -
You think that things like this would come with some kind of in built insurance in the monthly price in case of sickness or redundancy.0

It does if you pay for it

and so? my taxes pay for unemployment benefit. I wouldnt mind if my mobile contract price included an insurance so that if someone else with the provider was sick or out of work their bill would be covered. and if i was in the same position i could use it0

I have every sympathy with your predicament and wish you good fortune in finding yourself another job soon.
This is precisely why I advise people to get sim-only 30-day rolling contracts. What is a shiny new gizmo when you get it and are flush with case becomes an anchor round your neck when times are hard.
This is where you are:- If Vodafone are not prepared to make any leeway - and I would be surprised if they are prepared to write off the debt which is what you seem to require, then your credit record will be hit. No question.
That may not be important today - and you would obviously be mad to try to extend your credit in your present circumstances. If you have other debts that will also come in and hit your credit rating, then one more with Voda isn't going to make any difference, but if this is the only one, then do whatever you can to keep paying.
Maybe the Voda rep will come in on this one.0
