Lots more Sneaky Ways to save the pennies

One of my friends did a test overnight with one of those energy meters, she's got 4 kids (all teenagers) and turned everything off. She knew the kids would charge there mobiles overnight. She said the cost was frightening. Since asking them not to charge their mobiles overnight but during dinner (and turning them off whilst charging) she said she's shaved £10 a quarter of her bill just on that alone. Not as many people in our household but I'm a great believer in the saying look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. I drink strong black tea and coffee and my china cups soon get stained. I buy the packs of white eraser blocks at any £ shop. A quick wipe round the cup and stains r gone. No bleach or chemicals. Cut the blocks up and they last for ever. They are also great for cleaning marks from paintwork (gloss or emulsion). I wouldn't be without them.:T:dance::dance::dance: I'm an Olympic Gamesmaker 2012:dance::dance::dance:0

Thanks for that, I use these but hadn't thought about using them on my white cups.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Many work places don't let you charge your personal mobiles in their premises anymore. I used to plug my charger in and charge my mobile overnight, big waste of money! If you can only charge your mobile till its properly charged (45 mins to 1 hour at most this will take), but it will charge faster if you can turn your mobile off (20 - 30 mins). I know this isn't an option for everyone, but if it is the pennies really do add up on this one.
My phone takes 2 tours and 20 minutes to charge when turned off and totally run down.I have had it a few years.Maybe newer models take less time?0 -

According to OH it does - the laptop/PC will use up more power from the source (plug socket or battery life) by sending it across to the extra device plugged in. It also takes longer to charge.
Probably not MUCH more expensive... but I like to charge mine at work0 -
I wouldn't charge my phone at work.It seems a bit of a cheek to me.0

I have to use mine quite a lot for work, so it needs to be fully charged all the time, just in case.0

Sorry to be a bit thick here, what do you mean by `eraser blocks` do you mean what I know of as rubbers?0 -

They're not rubber but really dense white sponges. Not sure if there's something in them but they take off most marks. They come in large blocks and can be cut to size with a sharp knife.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera.
