Picked this tip from "How Clean is Your House"

Save the peel after eating a banana and use it to polish up leaves of plants...works a treat and they remain shiny for ages. I do this all the time and my house plants look fab; they sometimes get mistaken for FAKES!

Banana skin works for shining shoes too!

Also if you soak banana skins in water it is good for watering your plants with.

Haven't tried it but I heard rosemary infusions stain the hair darker over time, it gradually builds up. Would smell lovely too!

As a teenager I had quite greasy hair and used to rinse it with with a jug of half vinegar and half water. Lemon juice is another 'food' that helps treat greasy hair, and also helps to keep fair hair fair. Warm black tea gives brown hair a lovely shine.
We used all these some 50 years ago :)
  • Can anyone point me to a good recipe for a hand scrub that I can make and keep in a kilner?

If your hands get really mucky in the garden a handful of sugar will normally take most grubby bits off

My DH does this when he's done work on the car and got dirty, oily hands. A squirt of washing up liquid and a bit of sugar cleans them up great :j
