Lots more Sneaky Ways to save the pennies

I can quickly find the recipes I've used the most in any cook book by the amount of food on each page

2 things that help to save pennies - I don't know if they're stupid and everyone knows them - but I'm putting them out here anyway.
1. put jars of jam, marmalade etc upside down in the fridge - after checking that they don't leak - this stops air getting in and the 'stuff' going mouldy.
2. When using a knife to slide veg, spices, herbs and such off a cutting board; turn the knife over and use the blunt side - this stops the knife becoming blunt as quickly. Granite and marble blunt knives too.Clutter free wannabee 2021 /52 bags to cs. /2021 'stuff' out of the placeYOU CANNOT BE ALL THE GOOD THAT THE WORLD NEEDS, BUT THE WORLD NEEDS ALL THE GOOD YOU CAN BEtaken from Shelbizleee on YouTube - her copyright11 -
Great idea for jars upside down to prevent air getting in. When I read the second tip, I had to read again as thought it was slice rather than slide!ailz95 said:2 things that help to save pennies - I don't know if they're stupid and everyone knows them - but I'm putting them out here anyway.

- Don’t buy expensive dust sheets for DIY, buy cheap double duvet covers or curtains (supermarket/reduced/charity shops etc)
- Freeze leftover sauces/herbs in ice cube trays
- Make your own multipurpose spray cleaner using washing up liquid, water, vinegar & an essential oil“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. To add to the leftover sauces in ice cubes theme. I put home made tomato sauce in silicone cup cake holders on a tray in the freezer, once frozen, remove from holder and bag. One is just enough for a medium to large pizza base. Good thing with silicone is that it doesn't seem to stain with tomato based sauces.....so far.14

I save old and worn out bed sheets to use as dust sheets

Instead of just adding the juice of a lemon/orange/lime- peel it and put it in a blender and pulp it. Put it in ice cube trays - this adds a bit of fibre as well.Clutter free wannabee 2021 /52 bags to cs. /2021 'stuff' out of the placeYOU CANNOT BE ALL THE GOOD THAT THE WORLD NEEDS, BUT THE WORLD NEEDS ALL THE GOOD YOU CAN BEtaken from Shelbizleee on YouTube - her copyright5

I just saved about £100 by following my OH round B&Q & asking him whether we needed every small item he picked up to do DIY & whether his Dad had one we could borrow/we had something else that would do the same job!

New to this thread and working backwards so not sure if this has been mentioned - once i've 'finished' the toothpaste I cut the end off - what's left inside lasts another couple of weeks!Siebrie said:- I finish the toothpaste my dds don't like. I bought children's toothpaste, but it has a rather weird taste. I brush my teeth with this every morning, and use the expensive one I like in the evening.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
