We used old socks when they had gone past the point of darning. Reading your comment reminded me of the fun we had doing this, there used to be a rush out of the door at playtime to bag the best bit of wall-happy days!
LOL we sure did too. We used to do it on the neighbours house as his walls were flat brick. Ours were pebbledashed OMG we must have drove him insane
Either that or we played marbles on a drain

Has this thread died a death? If so, it's a shame because although I didn't post much (a committed lurker I'm afraid) I did really enjoy everyone elses posts.0

I hope it hadn't died a death? I don't have any tips to post, but does anyone have any tips for saving water? We are on a meter, and I would love some ideas on how to reduce our water usage and our bills. We are a family members of five. DH and I, DD1 (6), DS (2), and DD2 (1). The kids do share baths.2016 MFW no. 47 £0/£3,000

We were talking the other day on facebook about cleaning our ovens.
the consensus was to use vingegar mixed with soda crystals. make into a paste and spread over oven and door. let soak for maybe half an hour, longer if really dirty, then wash off with water and cloth.
comes up lovely and clean, no nasty mr muscle oven cleaner smell and costs a fraction of said product!0 -
and on another facebook group, they were talking about burnt irons.
They said switch iron on, get it warm, not scalding and take a paracetomol tablet and iron it on the ironing board. the black burnt on bits will come off the iron. hey presto, no having to buy a new iron.0 -
Here is a solution for the very brave commuter. PS not recommended.

There's something I've started doing (after watering it down in the first place), decanting the dregs of my old shampoo bottle into my new one. I just turn the Old one upside down and balance it on top of the new bottle. Both have their lids off, obviously.2016 MFW no. 47 £0/£3,000

a dash of vinegar in a ketchup or sauce bottle usually shifts the residue at the bottom.
Am I the only one who thinks that bits left in the tin should be used My eldest DD if she has a tin of beans for example will just upturn it then bin the tin without checking to see its completely emptyOK maybe not a big tip but its still food you have paid for that your chucking away.0 -

I always bang mine hard to get the last beans out. I know someone who scrapes out everybit of sauce too.0
