I've been very controlled with the wine over the past few weeks - but unfortunately had lots last night - went out with Mr PIR - and I feel absolutely horrendous today. Too ill to even go to the gym. Very, very annoyed with myself.

19 afds for me please Sparkles

I'm going to try for no more wine now for the rest of July.

Have a good day, everybody. Congratulations to all those who have managed to give up completely - I wish I could.

    xx

I didn't always go mental when drinking.
The issue was that sometimes I DID go mental when I didn't mean to, and felt awful for it.
That's me being powerless of alcohol.

I had to be willing to go to any length to stop drinking. Until I was willing, there was no point at all.
I believe everyone can stop drinking if they want it enough, but unfortuantely most people have to feel a lot of pain and anguish first.

I might jump on board here, this has been something i've been intending to do now for a long time, I am pretty much only a weekend binger but I'm giving up smoking tomorrow aswell and well the 2 go so well together, can't really have one without the other so both have to go

Welcome slugger. I think it's a big ask to give up both at once but I wish you luck.

Meal sounds lovely sparkles. I'm glad you've got family coming, I thought you were going to eat it all yourself!!:D

Great to hear you had a good night out jo and well done on the moderation:T I've got Jamie Oliver's pork shoulder recipe in the oven (been fancying it ever since you mentioned it weeks ago). It won't be ready for hours yet but smells yummy!

fay, Sussex is far south. Brighton's in Sussex, sort of south of Gatwick. It's much more easily accessible than Suffolk due to lots more main roads. As you know Suffolk is hillbilly country:D

Hope everyone who went back to bed is now up! I'm going to read book in garden. I've quite a bit of filing and shredding but otherwise an easy day.

  • Thanks, GC. I'm going to read my copy of 'Living Sober' this week - not just skim through it like I did last time. Going on holiday in a couple of weeks - wouldn't it be wonderful if I could be AF on holiday? Might just set myself that challenge.

Anyway, been getting things done in the house today, and I've got a day off work tomorrow, so going to take DD2 and DD3 out somewhere nice. I'm going to start the roast chicken Sunday dinner now - there are certainly going to be some lovely meals this evening by the contributors to this thread!

    Afternoon all!

Lot less grumpy this afternoon....went and spent a good couple of hours chatting with my Nan. She always grounds me, IYKWIM. (not as in banning me from going out....although I wouldn't put it past her!....but brings me back down to ground when I'm feeling all uppitty!!)

Think we may be brewing up for a storm here - air all heavy and seems very dark. Hope so as its been very muggy.

Sparkles dinner sounds yum.....spag bol for us tonight....if I can be bothered to defrost the mince!

P.s Just something really stupid......realised today my hair is now long enough to put up in a big clip. Always used to have my hair like this when it was longer. Had it cut when Piglet arrived as thought it would be easier. You cannot believe how DIFFERENT I felt being able to put it up again! Made me feel tidy when just lately I've felt a right mess. Really perked me up:D. See, told you it was really stupid...:rotfl::rotfl:

My life is far more boring - as documented somewhere else (diary) all I've done today is sort out my cluttered cupboards from moving in!!

I've started talking to plastic boxes - therefore - its time for a walk!!

Not seen a human since Friday :)

    Hi All

I have had a very quick read through the last few pages as have been to see my special friend at the coast since Friday.

Hope everyone is ok and has had good weather.

Well I have done it, AF on Friday and today now gives me 11 AFD this month so I have hit target Yay......:j:D

Had a lovely but busy weekend. Went to South coast on Friday night, drove to West London yesterday to DD dad out with his garden and problems in kitchen. ( He had another heart attack in Feb and we are still good friends so like to keep an eye on him). Drove back to coast last night (was naughty and had some wine:o) and drove home this afternoon. All in about 220 miles. Going back to work tomorrow for a rest lol.:rotfl:
