    Morning all :)

DC, just keep working on it one day at a time. It's impossible to control the rest of the month but you can choose what you do for the next few hours & then the few after that & before you know it that it'll be today gone & then you can deal with tomorrow :)

I'm still catching up but saw that Budgielicious is off to Torquay next month - dates please, sweetiepie ;)

    Morning all

I managed one more AFD on Wednesday so up to 2 this month. I then got on a weird mission and totally overdid it on Thursday. Mixed my drinks which I don't usually do. Started with a vodka and cranberry (leftover can at home before meeting my friend at the pub) All well and good. Drank that tooo quick and then had a whisky and diet cokde (think I was still trying to be good weight loss wise) Off to meet my friend where we shared a bottle of wine. And then another large glass each.

The bit I'm embarrassed about is I then came home and drank a glass of cider. Only cold booze in the house. Out of a martini glass. And spilt some on my T shirt as I was pretty bladdered by this stage. Best bit was I didn't say anything not even euughh or gross as I've learnt that if OH is sober and I'm not (unusual for us) he will be really grumpy at me for spilling stuff. So kept drunkenly quiet about the soggy bit on my T shirt. Not sure why I was on such a mission. Bizarrely the trigger was some good news at the hospital and a sunny day. I came out and was just sooo happy. But I know to watch myself if I'm sad so it's a bit odd. Could be just an any old excuse kind of thing.

Then last night was just the usual too much wine kind of Friday night so don't feel too bad this morning, just my usual level of groggy and hungover rather than yesterday's massive one.

Not sure I can explain it to anyone else. I really need to get more understanding of my head and why I am having these self destructive patterns with food and booze. Meant to go for a run last night (run 3, I'm hardly started on this but was trying at least) but sat on the sofa until I fell asleep.

Do you think alcohol calories count the same way as normal ones? For years OH had persuaded me not to worry about them and now he finally tells me he was making it up. And the thai chilli nuts I ate int he put while drunk when I don't like chilli and can remember not liking them at the time. What is that all about. Why?
I need to be wary of sunshine and good news as well as stress and bad news. Odd odd odd.

    Hi everyone,

I usually just post in the Arms.

I posted a thread on going teetotal and someone contacted me saying it maybe useful here.

Just a brief history, I've been a heavy drinker all my working life, in professions, the Army and police, that, at that time, had strong drinking cultures.

I started boozing at seventeen and packed in at fifty two. I retired at fifty and thats when, without work to curb it, I felt my drinking was reaching unacceptable levels.

On 16th of June 2009 I packed in and on 22nd of that month posted in the Arms, as an incentive, my intention to go teetotal. Anyone teetotal? (multipage.gif1 2 3 ... Last Page)

I posted this yesterday in celebration of being completely booze free for a year!

It's been exactly a year since I had an alcoholic drink and I'm very proud of myself.

From having about forty pints a week it hasn't been easy to go completely teetotal. The most difficult times have been pub lunches, social events, family do's, birthdays, holidays and especially Xmas.

Financially I have seen a big difference saving at least £250 per month.

Stopping drinking gave me the incentive to exercise and eat a little less, I've lost two and a half stone in weight which has reduced my high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, back to normal. I sleep far better and feel much less lethargic.

I'm really enjoying the freedom that being a non drinker gives you like going out without having to book taxis.

I now enjoy watching others getting inebriated and seeing the change in them and I've almost forgotten how bad hangovers can be.

Last night we had relatives staying over, the white wine and vodkas were flowing freely until 2.30am. This morning whilst they were nursing bad heads and only managing to eat dry toast, I went out for a brisk five mile walk followed by a huge bacon butty. :D

I suppose if I had real self control, I'd be able to drink moderately, but that's not a risk I'm prepared to take. I've always been an all or nothing sort of person, and I don't want to fall back into heavy drinking after putting all this effort in.

I've often seen others post that they would like to give up booze. I hope that my experience shows it can be done and gives you the incentive to go alcohol free. :D

Most of you won't know me, but I am very approachable and helpful , so the offer of contacting me by pm applies to all here aswell.
