As for me I am 3mths AF and umming and ahhing about remaining AF on holiday next week, I feel very undecided about this presently

I had the same dilemma when I was 10 months AF.

We'd rented a cottage in the Lake District with my brother and his missus who like my OH love a drink especially on holiday.

We were planning on doing alot of walking and pub lunching. :D

I thought all those regional beers and the fact that I was on holiday with my brother might have weakened my resolve. Then I thought, so what, have a drink and 'wrap' it in as part of the holiday, then return to AF when returning home.

The first day we walked a stiff climb on a boiling hot day in Ambleside, and were dying of thirst by the time we'd reached the pub. They all had pints of lager, I had a pint of lime and soda, and enjoyed it just as much as beer.

l remained AF throughout the holiday and was glad I did. I feel sure that I had I tried to restrict drinking to holidays it wouldn't have worked for me and would have started me drinking back at home. As I say I'm all or nothing, it's the only way I can do it. :D

To me beating booze was treating every accepted drinking occassion separately, rising to reach challenge and seeing it through.

Sparkles I can understand the dilemma. Holidays, fun and alcohol go together for a lot of us. However, I do remember you saying how you had managed to break the association with Friday and Saturday and booze. I was very impressed with that at the time. Perhaps this is just another association to break. You have done so well and are feeling so great that it seems a shame to risk that. I'm sure you will come to the right decision for you and have a great holiday.

Afternoon all, hope everyone is well.

I've been running around all over the place today have only just sat down. Still feeling a bit out of sorts with the events of the last few weeks and trying to hold the family together. Don't think its going to be an AF evening as I've promised someone I'll go to a do that I don't really want to go to. I'm not in the best frame of mind to be truthful and I know its going to end up as a heavy messy session. But I've got my contingency plans in place to make sure I'm the one buying my drinks (so I can swap in plenty of AF ones). I'm not in the mood to discuss with others why I don't want to get plastered! Yes this all sounds like an excuse not to commit to being AF and its not particularly where I want to be but it is where I am ..... sorry this is a bit of a ramble, my minds all over the place at the moment :o

So sending positive vibes out to everyone staying AF today - well done :)
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.

    Thanks DB

I have completelty broken the weekend association for drinking alcohol which was always a strong one for me

    Now this is another association

Will one or two cutting downer amounts make any difference?
How will I feel after one or two and the next day?

I know I can control the amount to this level however I am still not sure if I actually want a drink of alcohol.

I need to make sure I am hydrated as this is the biggest trigger of all for me I've discovered

I'm not going on holiday with a big drinker, they are hardly a drinker at all

I'm going to stop dwelling on it and stop battling the decision in my head as this always led to me caving in before

It's just a new situation that's all, I managed it last time, I almost managed the first holiday, the last time I had a drink

So it's no big deal, see you all later on tonight

    Hello everyone!!

I have found a new positive thing about being AF. I have had very negative body image for very long time. Especially after having DD as I put on lot of weight while expecting her. Today due to not drinking, due to having more positive mindset, due to having more energy, due to going running, due to trimming down (scale is still not budging) I actually bought a dress and in a size I havent been able to fit in for over 6 years. I haven't had any dresses in my wardrobe for ten years so this is a huuuuuge step for me. Perhaps next I can replace my one and only pair of work trousers (black) that have started to hang off me.

Oh and I found a new AF drink, cloudy lemon by Feel Good Drink Co. I can't wait to taste it. So that will be 19 please Miss P
