Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 24th April. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning peeps
another nice morning, looks like we`re in for some nice weather at last.
Done my morning chores so the washing machine and dish washer were put on before leaving the house, DH will empty both before he sets off so getting into a routine for this shift pattern.
Yesterday i was shattered when i arrived home so i had an hour on the sofa and felt much better for it. Spent some time in the garden and planted the Mr Fothergills strawberries which had arrived when i got home, our lovely next door neighbour gave me some rooster seed potatoes that he had left over so they went into some tubs too. The ash from yesterday mornings fire went in the bin and everywhere was swept up so the garden furniture is now where it should be on the stone circle in the middle of the lawn. Shouldn`t really call it a lawn as it needs quite a lot of work after the winter and two hounds trampling all over it. Will make a start on that soon and put some more seed down.
DH painted part of the fence that needed finishing off so i just need to do the sleepers and then we`re almost ready for summer.:D:j
Curry & rice tonight for tea, nice easy one as its one from the freezer that was made a few days ago, might even manage to do some baking later.
Essex Girl - My ironing pile is enormous too, never seem to get around to it
Empty pockets - Sorry to hear that your doggie is ill, hope that the vet can find some meds that work ((((HUGS)))) for both of you
Lindy Loo - Glad to hear that your neice doesn`t need another op, hope that she gets well soon
Stroppyjock - MMMM Ruddles! Lovely stuff.
Sunnygirl - Congratulations - woohoo!! :j
JackieO - Your holiday sounds fab, glad to hear that you had such a good time.
Catch up with you all later, have a super Saturday peeps.

Morning Sunny day.
Nice long post......
Warm start here and set to be sunny for several more days. I had to get the hosepipe out last night and water stuff.... A heavy shower would not be unwelcome.
Grape vine looks like it might produce bucket loads this year. I saw 100's of little bunches of grapes on it, I hope they all work out....
I have 18 turkey eggs to put in the incubator this morning... Hope they hatch ...Gobble Gobble at Christmas
No idea what to do today? OH will want to get out, so maybe big boot sale and on to St Agnes for a cliff walk and picnic.... or something.
My neighbour has put up a huge Liberal Democrat sign in his garden opposite. 6 feet high and bright orange... A nice paintball target my son thought.... My Mebyon Kernow sign will have to be bigger....then...
Well, I shall wander down the hen coop and see if i can find a nice fresh egg to poach. I am giving up bread and pastry (after my whole pie episode) I need to lose a stone.... Help!NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning all
Slept on the sofa last night as I developed terrible indigestion, something I rarely suffer from.
I'm just about to cook hubby his breakfast & then drop him at work, I may go back to bed for an hour then.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all.
So much for a lie in on the weekend! I was awake at 6.30  But It's looking to be a beautiful day so I shouldn't complain
WM is on, and I've sorted the recycling, and once I've posted I'm back to bed to read for an hour or so.
There is a local food festival on here today but the entry is £2. I begrudge paying this because it's been highly advertised for weeks with no mention of the entry fee! Plus it's in a small community hall so I don't think there is actually going to be much there so I think £2 is a bit too much to pay for what will be half hour's worth! Does this mean I'm tight?! :rotfl:
I can't remember if I re-posted yesterday when I came back from dinner (!), we had a nice meal in the carvery but it was a bit of a nightmare to get there beause the police had closed of the main route there due to a fire on the industrial estate. So we all had to find different routes!
Plan for today include lunch with girls and spot of shopping, pop to library, and visit my nan. I may go to the gym but I think I'll leave that til tomorrow as I have nothing on tomorrow.
OS wise.....I'll put washing to dry on balcony, need to tidy around and think of tea. I'm contemplating curry as I have it all in freezer already.
N9eav - I've more or less given up bread. I'm following Slimming World, and although you can have bread on it, I'm finding quite easy to not eat any. The only time I've fancied some is this morning because I have some lovely proper free range eggs which will go lovely scrambled on toast!
Have a great day all

Flutterbyuk I havent had bread for ages as I am trying to cut down and lose weight, I just occasionally have burgen soya and linseed, I LOVE bread but find it makes me gain weight so easily
been doing online banking this morning and we have taken a hit on the bank account this month with some hefty unexpected bills, I really need to have absolute minimum spend this next month otherwise we are going to be in bother - I have never been in this situation before and its scary , I will have to make sure I do the grocery challenge for may
have a good day everyone - enjoy the sunshine0 -
Morning All
Happy Birthday to ME38 today  Came down this morning to find that DH had written on a red envelope "Lets pretend this is the start of a game, and not an envelope that was too small for the card...." and then gave me a clue to where my card was :rotfl:
I have gift cards from Mum & Dad, Grandad and FIL so far and got some clothes and a bracelet from DH the other day so a spot of shopping is in order.
After caredul consideration (and the fact that DS-S stayed at his grandads last night until tomorrow and the twins have been out most of the night!!) I have decided to rope one of the twins into babysitting DD as what we would have spent on us all going to the cheap chinese me and DH can go the the expensive chinese where we had our first proper 'date'If you can't spoil yourself on your birthday when can you?
TD has been emptied and re-filled and that's as much as I intend to do today
Have a good day xClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

Morning everyone
Woke up at 10 to 6 and couldn't get back to sleep so got up to get stuff done. So far have managed the ironing and making pancakes for DDs breakfast. Unfortunately sat here with the laptop and have come to a standstill! Will go for a shower in a mo and take her to work.
Got some jobs to do in town so will go there and then just pottering. Was planning to cut the grass but it's still raining. It is meant to brighten up later and be nice tomorrow so there is hope!
Right, off to wash, enjoy your days, may pop back later.
Hope everyone is good!
ETA - Happy Birthday jc! Enjoy your day.0 -
Morning everyone.
I slept OK last night but feel really tired this morning, not sure why. Kids up at 6.30 - the 7am starts seem to have disappeared
Putting up tent this morning to check it over. Have a birthday party at midday with the kids and I need to pop to the Supermarket and get a few bits. I think that's my day covered :rotfl:
Might do a HM pizza for tea for me and the kids. Not sure about H........
N9eav - I agree I am desperate for a heavy shower. My water butt is nearly empty and being on a water meter I REALLY don't want to start getting the hose out
JC - Happy Birthday to you  Hope you have a lovely day and enjoy your evening :j
OK off to have a shower and get sorted otherwise I'll be on here all morning
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good Saturday OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
