Wish I lived in Scotland... and they came trying my doorhandle... at the moment they'd be greeted with a massive great dane and a slightly insane GSD cross... neither of which bark so they'd get no prior warning...

Just now got a leaflet through my door, called "international humanitarian aid".wanting clothes for Africa, in nottingham.
Number not on charity commission, has a mobile phone on leaflet.
I met 2 guys distributing it and pointed out that it doesn't say charity number.
They then said they worked for a bloke.
The librarian whom I had seek advice, told me to go to trading standards which I will ring when I get home.
Anything else I should be doing?
Oh, I shall notify my neighbourhood co-ordinator.0 -
The more people that know about these scams the better i think. Maybe your co -ordinator could spread the word. People are so trusting when they think they are doing something good and these people take advantage of that.
It means that genuine charities are missing out.
As far as i am aware ,BLUEBELL is the third company name these guys in glasgow have had since they first began as scottish help.
Although maybe not connected there are these types of collectors opperating all over the uk playing on the fact people are usually more than happy to help those worse off than themselves.
IT MAKES ME SOOOOOOOOOO CROSS!!!!:AIt matters not how long a stars shines ,what is remembered is the brightness of it's light.
JAN Battle attacks cars, 3 VIP althletics tickets, fairtrade choccy .... yum

My friends and I are in the process of getting charitable status for our group, one thing I noticed from the masses of paperwork involved is that you can set up legally as a charity without having to register as one if you have an estimated charitable income below £1,000 pa.
It could be possible that certain charities with no registration could be legitimate if they don't actually take cash donations above that figure but take items such as clothing for recycling.
To be honest though, I'd still think twice about them if they weren't registered, and certainly if I lived in Scotland and they tried my door handle.
