Off to my mum and dads on saturday so going to take my square with me - will be away from small children for 2 days so plenty of time to get it started at least!

Boss still off tomorrow but I'm teaching all day so no spinning round in chair time - although I have made some big decisions today which felt good!

    Hi

About the second border... I think we'll have to go with this as the basic idea
    nmm wrote: »
I found this one 2 Stitches Tall any good?

and just improvise certin letters that don't look right, as long as we use this design as the basic idea and only make slight changes then I think it will be fine...what does everyone else think?

Id go with a taller design but as our letters are only small having the back stitch names bigger might look a bit silly.
And go with my earlier post of this....

"Right ive been having a look at Tangles' finished design and i was thinking the second border could be a 1 row border (like the first one thats there) 5 rows after the first....
so there are 4 rows inbetween the 2 borders, then we can stitch our name and county on using the middle two rows (so there is a blank row above and below the writing)
and we'll stitch the writing in the bottom right hand corner.
the border will be the same colour as the letter and the writing will be in black back stitch...
    "

i know I probably haven't explained it very well but ill try and get one of mine done in the next couple of days and post a pic to explain better

    Is this all ok?

Also im just sorting out a design for the back stitch squares (money saving expert, cross stitch cafe, quilters names etc..) so when ive got some designs ill post them up so we can choose, while we're on that subject if anyone wants to do one of those squares aswell can you pm me please, we've still got some not taken.

Maria sounds like you're doing well :)

Dora Reminds me of the place I used to work, was great being in charge while the boss was away lol :D hope you enjoyed spinning and hope today is going well too, well done on the big decisions I bet they are great! :) Also have a lovely weekend break at your moms xx

  • Hey guys for some reason this thread wasnt showing any updates all week for me. Has everyone got the pdf saved? I'll get it taken down- it was only ment to be up for a little while anyways as it was obvious to me from the start we couldnt make it available to everyone, as it would have been unfair on the designer.

    Hi Gang

Been working away on my letter - been graphing out my name to go under it.

With the space we have I can put either

    J H Pless - Glasgow

    or

    J H Pless - East Dun

East Dun is short for East Dunbartonshire (where I live) - so what one do you think is best? I am leaning towards Glasgow as it looks better as it gives a space at either end and more people know of it.

Also are we doing it all in capitals?

Don't mean to be a pain

    sweetcarer ;)

Hi Sweetcarer nope I wasn't going to do it in capitals, i thought it would look better in upper and lower case but does everyone else think thats ok? Oh and I think the glasgow option xx

Also Keiss kindly pointed out that we'll need an extra row as the lower case letters like g and y mean it will cover 3 rows not 2!

So ill ask Chickywiggle very nicely if she'll update the 3rd post again...

Hmmm this may get confusing so we may well end up sticking with whats in the 3rd post and using capitals...ill be back!!! lol
