Susan - whooping cough can't be nice for any of you but better than asthma long term. xxx
On the subject of climbing I caught Benjamin yesterday climbing onto his toybox under the window in the living room and trying to go from there to the windowsill and the open window :eek:tbh If i wasn't a lazy bum consumer that bought honey in the supermarket and I got local stuff I wouldn't have waited until he was 1, IIRC the research is a flawed/a bit knee jerk on the subject.
Flawed / Knee Jerk research in this country???? NEVER!!!

We had a good night here:j Settled Holly in her moses basket at about 8pm where she stayed asleep until just after 11pm when she woke for a feed. She then went back in her basket instead of our bed and stayed asleep until 5am when she came into our bed for another feed and a cuddle. Lets hope it continues!
Hi Musogirl, Is H about 6 weeks now? 6 weeks was about the turning point for us...I think it took us all that long to settle down.
Someone told me when Benjamin was teeny tiny that things change every 6 weeks or so and that still keeps me going now...for instance the stroppiness we have at the moment I think 'in 6 weeks time he will be totally different again'
When we pulled into the CM's drive this morning Benjamin started shouting and clapping and was generally very excited to be there. Poor mummy is deep-down very happy that he loves it at the CM but he could make a bit of an effort to pretend he was gonna miss meplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Alice probably has whooping cough - not asthma. Unfortunately it could last another couple of months and there's nothing they can do about it. The sleep disturbance is worse than having a newborn (or at least worse than Alice ever was).
:( Poor Alice (and poor you!). I hope she feels better...not sure if your DH is working at the moment or not, but can he help look after her during the day a little bit so you can get some naps?

wish we could put A in bed with us in a morning (lazy or not lol!!), as we bring her in she starts giggling and crawling all around, plus a bit of hair pulling for me!! no sleeping going on when she comes in lol.
she's starting to wake earlier and earlier *yawn*. OH got up for work at half 5 walked past her room and she was stood up in her cot laughing at him!! luckily she went back down for a bit.0 -
Hope Alice feels better soon or at least feels comfortable and gets a decent sleep x x x0

I agree. I know a woman from Sri Lanka with about eleven kids and she said that she rubbed honey on all their gums when they were teething to make them feel a bit better. Apparently it worked *shrug*
I don't think it's banned here at all, though.Krystaltips wrote: »Happy Anniversary Aless
The cat came back6am hubby woke me with a "look who's here!" Glad he's back, but annoyed that he decided to climb in with the baby and woke her up... She was awake at 4am for an hour, I had to ignore her until she went to sleep in the end... Plus it was supposed to be my lie in seeing as D has the day off work but he's woken up with a headache and now dying of hypochodria in bed...
Suppose I could get dressed and walk Aimee to school anyway...
Yay for prodigal cats!
I have a husband like that this morning too. I asked if he'd take Molly so I could get a bit of sleep, so he settled down in the bed with her and I got none  then he got up, eventually changed her nappy but didn't dress or feed her. When I was up I went to the kitchen to get her something to eat and the kitchen was overwhelmingly disgusting and there's him whinging about having been up since 5am (I know he hadn't cause Molly was up and down and he was in the bed with us, but even if he had he should have done the dishes and cleaned the floor).
He's gone back to bed now, but I've not seen the kitchen since I took the huff about it...Alice probably has whooping cough - not asthma. That's both bad news and good news, Susan - horrible for you all but better long term than asthma. I don't know what the right thing to say is, so big hugs all round.
Busy day today. I need to finish this paper urgently and sort out grocery shopping for tomorrow and getting the flat cleaned for guests.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Hello everyone.
I am still lurking sometimes but not got much to say. Thanks for asking after me Aless. Happy Anniversary! Whereabouts in Scotland did you get married? There seems to be a lot of people not around at the moment actually. Hope all parents and babies are well anyway.
Beware of saying honey is ok and the research is based on nothing. It might be very rare, but people should be aware of the risks. A baby in Scotland nearly died last year from botulism due to being given honey on a dummy - here. Feel free to make your own decisions, but be aware that there might be a small risk!

I completely agree Fitzio but this sentence sums it up for me:
Infant botulism was discovered in 1976. There have been just six cases in the UK - one where a baby was fed honey in water - but Logan was the first in Scotland to contract it.
It has been a long time since 1976 (which was a fabulous year) and only 6 babies have contracted it....
But as I said, we don't even have honey in the house so Benjamin wouldn't be eating it anyway!

I have just had 3 meetings cancelled for this week due to the funding of my attendance being pulled
It means I have lots of time to catch up on all the work that I didn't do the week before last but work just gets more and more depressing atm.
In better news I have plans to break out my super new iron this evening :T:T *rolleyes*please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
