Personally *rant alert* I don't like babies in car seats when not in the car. They should, ideally only spend 2 hours in them at the most. But they do provide the best value.
Go to mothercare and pram shops and try out a few. I've bought a pram I lusted after for weeks only to discover that it was a nightmare to push, too low and I hated it (loola).
Can I ask some questions about your lifestyle? I'm going to anyway cos we're all dead nosey on here.
How do you get about? Walk, drive or public transport?
Where will you store the pram when not in use?
Are you rural or city based? What are your local paths like to get to anywhere you go on a regular basis (shop, walk etc)?
How long will your lo spend in the pram every day?0 -
And also I'm depressed. I bought a lovely cardigan today but my chuffing arms are too chuffing fat so I have to take it back and they don't do it in a larger size! Waily waily waily!0

Tia has just asked all the questions i wanted to lol! i agree though go and try some out and see what suits. i wanted the icandy pear and when i tried it out i thought it was a nightmare!
There are a lot of 2nd hand prams out there that are new, they come from buggy adicts that change their minds every few weeks (not that we know anyone on here like that
) What's for you won't go past you0 -
One extra pram question-what car do you have? \do you need to be fitting a car into a teeny boot or do you drive a limo?

Hmmmm i suppose i wouldnt love being sat in a car seat if not in a car, but i was just thinking if the baby was in a deep sleep and really didnt want to wake him/her!
I drive (mostly) but obviously would need something easy for shopping etc. My house has a drive way then 2 steps then a walkway along the front living room window, then 2 steps actually into the house so Im thinking trailing a heavy pram with a baby in it would be a nightmare!? If walking to the shops, walkways are just pavements as i live on the outskirts of the city-so normal i suppose.
I have a pretty large kitchen so the pram could be kept there when not in use or even under the stairs, to be honest i havent thought about these things so thanks for making me awate
I suppose bubs would only be in the pram when im out walking to the shops, or out in shopping centres- so maybe not for long periods of time daily.
I drive a focus which has a pretty big boot, however my OH drives an audi saloon which isnt has big but is deeper iykwim?
OMG im freaking out here, i didnt consider any of these questions?!
Thanks guys!

Amber didn't wake up (for long) when being moved from car seat to pram, which happened at least twice a day for school run time, usually 3 times a day. For the likes of nipping into a shop quickly they are ok. I bought a carry cot because she ended up spending 2-3 hours in her pram a day when I dropped DS2 off at nursery and we went into the town.
Ladybird, I forgot all about the boot space issue (I do have huge estate style cars so I don't have to think about it!), but yeah, if you have a saloon style boot space is an issue as well as how heavy it is.
Remember and check the car seat will fit in the car too!
And you thought a pram was a pram ha! A pram is a way of life (till they outgrow them, but like Caz, you can just have another baby
) lol
Make sure it will fit along your path and through your door too.0 -
kat - I purposely didnt buy the matching car seat that attaches to my pushchair so I wouldnt be tempted to put baby on there. T moves between her car seat and pushchair without any probs and tbh I think its just a case of what they get used to. Tho I know a travel system can be dead handy if you dont drive and have to get on public transport and meet someone at destination with a car, so its a case of what suits. Also if you buy a travel system with car seat please make sure that car seat fits your car and any others you use regularly.Baby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2

Kat - I am no pram authority but I have a travel system too, thinking it would be "easier" to have a car seat that could attach into, right? I've used the car seat on the pram exactly ONCE (Finn is 5 months old), so I might as well have just bought them separately! So it may be useful but it may not matter...he never sleeps deep enough that it's ever been an issue, so when he comes out of the car it's either into the sling or into the pram itself.
The one you were looking at...I have a Chicco and they're a bit heavy/awkward in my opinion...I'm sure one of the pram addicts on here (Tia, hmmmm) can advise you a brand or 2 based on your circumstances.
eta: mine didn't come with a carrycot and I kinda wish it had...but only for space-saving purposes as a "normal" pushchair in parent-facing mode then with the back all the way flat is actually really big (it's long?) and takes up so much room on the bus! Carrycots are more compact and the baba just looks comfier IMO.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Been lurking all day with nothing much to say for myself..
Aless, which Chicco system is it you have? (I spyed it in the corner of one of your Ikea meet pics, I think) We have the Chicco For Me pushchair (not the carrycot and car seat bits) which lives in my car boot for trips round town - wasn't sure if you had the same
We also have a SilverCross Freeway Linear which now lives at my mum's for walks round the village on days Rhys is with her as it's too big to all fit in my car
Am in two minds as to whether I'd have completely different prams if I did it all over again! :cool:0 -
Thanks guys! Now im so confused! The general opinion is no the the travel systems? Ok im obviously going to listen to people who have experiences of them. Ok so if i just focus on a pram and then a separate car seat? Eeeeeeekkk total rethink! Now a mother to my beautiful daughter OliviaBorn 10th Dec 2010 weighing 7lb 1oz
