I remember when I was 15 or so working as a waitress. This family came in and the baby was screaming. She must have only been a few months old and her skin was RED RAW! In a buggy with a wee pair of shorts and a strappy tshirt. No sun hat or even a hood on the buggy! The mum kept shaking the buggy and moaning that she didn't know why she was so !!!!ing grumpy!
At 15 and with no experience of babies I told her it was because the baby had bad sunburn, probably sun stroke and instead of stuffing her face full of scampi she should take her baby to A&E!
Eventually she did decide to go and use the phone to phone her doctor back home (they used the phone in the cafe) and yes, an ambulance was sent out to the cafe to collect them.
She had 3 older children with her too (all of who had sun burn as well).
DH says I'm boring because I won't take the kids out between 12 and 3pm, but I'm not risking that happen to any of mine!0 -
Woohoo!!! Go Wee James!!!0

Hiya, sorry I've not caught up yet, but had a cool idea that might be helpful to others with hols planning..
we've got a 1 litre corsa, and were thinking of just hiring a car for holidays as it's cheaper than going to a bigger car for just 6 ish trips a year.
We're going to my parents for half term week, and so we contacted an independant baby shop near them about hiring things for a week. It seemed on the phone like it was £10 for a buggy, £10 for a high chair...
So we asked if they'd do some kind of bundle deal, and they've happily said we can have a moses basket, travel cot, high chair and buggy for £25 for the half term week, saturday to saturday.
So that's a lot better than hiring a big car methinks? :money::)
Price diff between 'fairly small' and 'fairly big' car for a 6 day hire was only around 75 quid though, so the savings is real but not as mahoosive as it might beand at least where we are and what we were doing, an on-location hire wouldn't work for us, as we are doing at least 2 locations and not going back via the first one.
Also I like driving a big car so nernot least because I am tall and value spaciousness
All that said, we didn't take cot or high chair in the end as both places were able to lay them on for us as part of our bookingso winners all round!

Good job I am here on my own!
Awww MFD! Don't be weepy, you are really a very good Scrabble player
If it counts as good news, we are having a nice holiday, now in Cornwallno pics for now as didn't bring the camera cable, but spent this morning on a lovely, quiet, sandy beach in glorious sunshine
introduced E to bucket and spade, and to the sea ("Splash OHSHUN! Splash! Yucky! Sand yucky!").
Said beach was down a gigantic cliff though, at least a 15 minute trip with Elijah being carried for large parts where the steps were too big. Sweaty work
Our cornish B&B is absolutely lovely and informal and with incredible views and lovely landlords, but is really very arty and stylish and funky and not ideal for a toddler - we are spending much time removing glass or smashable items from his path... E has been doing so much and so excited by everything that he has reverted suddenly to two naps a day! Which it is probably 9 months or more since he last did... one short and one long. He is absolutely loving it all though and has coped very well with 3 hour car rides.0 -

When we take Lily out she is covered in factor 50, with the sun shade thingy over her. We have one that protects against UV rays
I burn easily, the sun only has to look at me and im red
I've had my hair cutShe thinned it out (as i have stupidly thick hair and i hate it) and now it feels all soft, thin and lush
OH keeps stroking it :rotfl:0
