    Hello

Hello everyone! Thought I would venture over to the parent thread seeing as I am now a mummy! My baby girl is 6 weeks old, can't quite believe I am a mummy.

Am after some advice, need to buy some suncream for baby as the weather is starting to getting sunnier and warmer, I know it has to be factor 50 but not sure which one to go for?
Also when dressing baby in the hotter weather do I still put a vest under babys clothes or just put the clothes on without vest?

    Jolene

Hi Jolene, I used this sun cream, not mse but seems really good.

On clothing Erin seems to be a really warm baby and I carry her a lot which keeps her warm so I try to dress her in as little as possible but usually always a vest as they are best for soaking up any leakages from nappies lol. Today she just had a vest and sleeveless dress and at the moment she is sleeping on the bed in just a vest.

Sami, just to throw a spanner in the works on the paddling pool, you can get this at Mothercare which is just pop up so no blowing up and it has the sun shade. Personally I still can't decide what to get.

EA I sent my passport off for a name change and they added the length of time the old one had left to run onto it so mine's still valid for ten years a year after I got it :money:

How long did you have left on it? cos they will only add 9 months on to the new one.

I emailed them about it as my passport runs out in 2018 (we were planning on getting married this year) and they told me I would lose 8 years and they would only add 9 months as its my choice to change my name *rolls eyes*

Yup just looked it up and its till 9 months

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Passports/Howtochangethenameonyourpassport/DG_174165

If you have changed your name or are about to

If you recently changed your name or plan to do so in the near future, you will have to change the name on your passport. If you don't, you may be unable to travel abroad.
When you apply to change your name, your current passport will be cancelled and a new standard ten-year passport issued. The Identity and Passport Service (IPS) will credit your passport with extra time (up to a maximum of nine months) to cover any time left on your old passport.

EA you can not change your passport? someone at work, stil travels in her maiden name as her passport is in her maiden name, they do say thats illegal though?

I was very !!!!ed off that I paid £72 in 2008 for mine and if we were to get married this year like we had planned too I would have to pay another £77 and I would lose 8 years!!!

Hi Jolene :) we just bought Elliot Banana Boat kids mist its factor 50 :) the other day when we were out it was over 30 degrees, so Elliot was just wearing his vest and his hat and suncream :) but its colder in the house than outside lol so he's been wearing his vest and babygro in the house or his vest and some cotton pants, I dont have any shorts for him, gonna look on asda's site now cos they have some clothes I want and you can get it delivered to store for free if you spend £25 (my friend does this she orders £25 worth of stuff even if she just wants one item then just returns the rest to the store for her money back, saves being charged for delivery lol), asda have all the suncreams are £5

    Good Luck SM's OH

MFD I think Next sleepsuits are small, E was out of the 14 pounds one's when he was just 11 pound odd

Morning all, well E had a fab night! he was really whingy in the evening, but we finally got him to sleep at half 8, then OH managed to get him in his cot still asleep at 9, we usully dream feed him, but we didnt want to risk waking him up lol, so I was prepared for a !!!!! night cos he hadnt fed since 7pm and even then it was only 2oz, imagine my suprise when E woke at his normal 1.15am!! I couldnt believe he had gone from 7-1.15am without waking for a feed, and even then he only wantd 5oz, then he woke again at half 5, had 4oz and has fallen asleep now in his swing :) he looks soooo cute lol

    Morning

    Weddings are getting close now:)

Not up to much today, gotta take car to the garage and get some food in, then just doing nothing the rest of the day, might go over the pub for lunch.

Suncream, I use whatever I see on offer, as long as it is min spf30 for the kids and dh, who burns very easily....I never bother with it, I have inherited my dad's leather skin!

MFD - I got K a little blue mac from Asda, very lightweight and only about a fiver.

Off to give k his cereal.

    xx

its not illegal to travel in your maiden name if you are married. lots of women do it to save money or like me CBA. and women who have quite good jobs/travel a lot with work tend not to change their name at all to avoid confusion.

i would only say change the passport if you will have no other ID in your married name. I only changed my passport this Jan 4 1/2 yrs after we married... i wanted us all to travel under the same surname. I still had 5yrs to go on mine.

EA- you can change your passport now too and send Lily's off at the same time in the same envelope. Yours will be valid from the day you get married.

Busy busy, had an email yesterday to tell me that my primary work email has been bouncing stuff back from the conference I'm presenting at in a couple of weeks and the deadline for abstract submission is tomorrow

19 of my 66 ebay items now have bids, and there are loads of watchers too :j

It's totally legal to travel on the passport in your maiden name, but you have to remember to book flights in that name because if your passport doesn't match the name the flight's booked under you can't travel.

Morning ladies - how is everyone?

I had a text this morning from Ex, telling me Ex-MIL had died. :(
She was pretty useless as a Nana, and never really bothered with J&L, but I still feel a little sad. **confused smiley**. I haven't told L yet, i'll tell her tonight after school - not sure if she'll be upset or not. Funny thing is we don't see her for ages, and we bumped into her last week at the shops!

I was very productive yesterday and had a major cleaning session, managed the whole house except for L's room. I'll do hers this morning. My dining table is now a clear dining table rather than a storage space for junk, and my kitchen surfaces are clear. :D

And i'm getting my hair done this afternoon. I remember the reason I stopped having highlights - it's 7 weeks since it was done and I have a good inch of roots! At least I know my hair is growing.
