Edward has been having a completely unheard of long nap this morning, so not only have I been able to lurk for a while, I'm even able to post! I'm sure he must wake up soon though.
We have his christening on Sunday, and I have done nothing so far to prepare for it . We're having 24 back to the house afterwards, and I haven't even done the grocery shopping, much less started to cook for it. I can't help feeling that Saturday is going to be a particularly busy day.
I saw when I was able to get on very briefly a few days ago that a couple of mums are having problems with HVs and PND. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to post then, and sorry if I rake up something. I just wanted to say that I had very bad PND after my second child which came to to huge crescendo when I went back to work when she was about 9 months old, and ended up spending a lot of time in hospital. I would definitely say not to ignore it, and if your HV is rubbish to try to seek out other sources of support. My GP at the time was fantastic, and if the HVs aren't prioritising you at the moment, the GP might be able to change that, or to get a CPN to support you instead. You might also be able to access some support from local childrens centres or via your local NCT. Feeling helpless and out of control is part of the illness, so its not at all surprising that if the HV doesn't come when she promises that it leaves you knocked flat on your back, but it is an illness which you can recover from, however severely you are affected at the time, and I hope that all the mums who have it at the moment can get the help they need to start feeling better.
After which post, Edward has woken up, so I will probably now disappear for months again!0 -

I think we had our first nightmare last night. At 12.30am Benjamin was really screaming and crying and throwing himself at me for a cuddle...and then went back down within (literally) seconds of me reassuring him that I was there.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Meh, physio was her usual passionate-about-her-job self.. not! She's coming back next week so she'll see Mum then cos I'll be at work.
Rhys didn't manage a nap before physio, just a lot of sobbing but no giving in. He coped remarkably with her pulling him about then wolfed down a Weetabix and has now passed out in his cot. Hopefully he'll stay there for longer than half an hour0
