before I google, anyone know where I can compare my constituency results from last time? I'm interested to see if the 47.3% Labour got is down, I thought it would be more as we're an ex-mining comunity, been a Labour stronghold for ages.

Wigan today, says that both Wigan and Makerfield Labour MP's both won, but with reduced majorities. So down on last year but not sure by how much. Oh also says Wigan 7.7% swing towards conservatives, Makerfield 10% swing.

    Elle found it. XXX

EA, I have memories of the last Tory goverment, I was a single mum for some of it. Desperate is all I can say, really desperate. This recession was not caused by our government but I do think they have handled it well. The one from the 90's was worse, Tories led that one. I remember the strikes, they privatised soo much, really f!!!!d things up!

Well i said, as a MW and a mum i would have the experiance to help other mums to be with.
I wont be one of them MW's that say it doesn't hurt when the most they've had is a tampon in there! :rotfl:

I didn't think my labour was that bad. It hurt like hell, but i soon got over it. And mine was only 8 hours 5 mins :D

Birth trauma counselling is a good thing to get into. I imagine its a good thing to be available to you if you had a traumatic birth.

My problem is that I relive my clients experiences quite a lot. Therefore working as a therapist with birth trauma whilst still having children would be a bad combo for me personally.

But I think midwifery is different because you have to remain in your clinical self and not activate your emotional self, so maybe this protects from vicarious trauma?

Interested in any thoughts folks have really... I'm just thinking on screen...

Sami the bbc news website shows you the results from last time as well as the results from this time when you look at specific areas.

We went from lib dem to conservative here, which is a shame, but not a great surprise. Our MP was Mark Oaten, but now he has left in disgrace I'm sure that would have put a few people off voting lib dem. And I'm sure there are people who have voted consertative to get rid of gordon brown? I must look up the voting history now. I know it was conservative before Mark Oaten got in in 1997, but no idea what the history was before then.

Edited to add - conservative every time since 1885 except 1845 when we were labour for 5 years, and the last yellow 13 years.

I agree that the expenses row will have caused people to not vote for a specific MP rather than looking at the whole picture. (the party they stand for)

What happened to encouraging Mums to stay at home. That £40 a month TC pays for nappies and stuff. I wouldn't mind but we pay so much tax, OH should be able to take my tax allowance if I'm not using it.
I totally agree. I believe they do that in a lot of other countries already. Self-employed people can do it here by making the business a partnership.
Anyone had Hot Stone Massage or Hopi Ear Candling?
    Ear candling scares me.

if we have to re vote. Would you vote a different party or the same one as yesterday? :)
I'm more likely to vote tactically next time rather than for my number one candidate.

Do we know who is Prime Minister yet?

    Hi ladies,

I asked over on the pregnancy thread but realised most of the women there won't have actually given birth yet. Doh!

Any experiences of the Borders General in Melrose? Am due to travel up tomorrow to stay with inlaws and will stay until this baby comes (various reasons I won't go into) but it's by no means local as I live near Leeds.

    Any info muchly appreciated.

    is this site any use?
