Just back from the Wimbledon fair, it was really very impressive and large, Aless! If you're bored it's still on til 5....
Knackered now though, we went sans stroller which meant most of the time E, unnerved by the crowds and weirdness, clung to my neck, and the rest of the time he sprinted dangerously through seas of legs while I tried to keep up...0 -
Thanks Elle, must be the same one I just saw. The Lindam one looks best suited. How does she find it?
How r u and Rhys? Belated happy birthday to the little one. I can't beleive how quick it's gone. Getting a little emotional, being on here again takes me right back to a year ago. Getting a bit broody again! Uh Oh!
Don't think she's got any complaints with itThe actual playpen sides haven't been used much yet (Rhys has only just decided that rolling about is fun again) but she got it as they have a wood-burning stove type thing which is set about a foot away from the wall so an normal fireguard won't do so it'll be used as a big fireguard in the winter too
Rhys sits on the mat that came with it everytime he's there, helps the dog know where she's not allowed to tread too!
Me and Rhys are grand taHe's just gone out with Daddy to his grandparents dressed in 6-9mth clothes - at long last!
He's been in 6-9mth vests and sleepsuits for months but finally his 3-6mth outer clothes were looking tighter so now I've got to gradually sift them all out to put away / sell... and I've got an excuse to go shopping for 6-9mth stuff (as if I haven't done enough shopping already!
)
How are you and Tom?No broodiness here, I can assure you
Becles, I'm shattered just reading what you did today!
Tia, hope Amber's better soonWhat's up?

Question - anyone have any ideas how I can get E to drink water?
She's been eating for nearly 5 weeks and now up to 3 meals a day and loves it but she refuses to drink water with her food. Haven't been too concerned before cos its all new, and most stuff she's had has been purees which have some water or milk anyway, or things like porrridge which are mixed with water. But now she's getting to finger foods and lumps and the type of foods i'd want a drink with but she still won't.
I've tried different containers - normal cup (cos she's always liked watching and copying people drinking from cups/glasses), a tommee tippee cup (free flow), a weaning bottle, a normal bottle.
I've tried diluted juice instead.
I've tried leaving her to do it and tried me giving it to her.
I've tried doing it and getting her to copy.
She just chews on the free flow cup and the weaning bottle. I've only managed to get her to take some 3 times - once from a normal cup and twice from a bottle (but after meal with me holding her lying down and giving it to her like milk) and each time she's spat it straight back out!:j Very proud mummy to Evie Mae born 26/12/09 :jAims for 2010 - be a good mummy, lose (some) weight, clear (some) debts, be happy0 -
We're Ok Elle. I can't believe how far Toms come along. He started off under the 0.4 centile on the chart and at one point was on 91st. Dropped back a bit now but I think he's around 75. He's definatly at an entertaining age now, lots of giggles.
Loads of my friends are having babies now, (i wish they'd done it a year sooner) and Im a bit jelous. Not quite forgotten all the bad bits yet though so no more babies for a good few years yet.
Well done to Rhys, glad he's making progress.

Tom only started drinking anything other thanMilk at around 11 months. He just wouldn't have it, I think he wasn't keen on the different consistency as it used to go everywhere. Tried all sort of cups and lids etc but nothing worked. Then all of a sudden something seemed to click and he started drinking out of a cup, by himself. He'll have squash or water now and drinks it himself with barely any dribbles. I'm sure they just start when they're ready, just carry on offering plenty of Milk until then.

Thanks jvic.
She does seem fine without it and she's still having plenty of milk which probably helps.
It was mainly cos I tried giving her some soup i'd made the other day and it was some veg and lentils, and when i warmed it up i had a spoonful and my first instinct after was that i needed a drink (probably cos of lentils) and i felt mean not trying everything i could to get her to have a drink with it.:j Very proud mummy to Evie Mae born 26/12/09 :jAims for 2010 - be a good mummy, lose (some) weight, clear (some) debts, be happy0 -

I would love to go, but with DH gone I don't have any way of getting there.
newbie_maz - Finn doesn't really drink from a TT cup, weaning cup OR bottle either! I figure it'll click eventually and until then he'll have to be okay on boobie juice. I try him every day but it always gets spat straight back out.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

I know what you mean. Milk doesn't seem very thirst quenching does i? I never have it to wash food down, but I suppose babies down know any different. I'm sure if she wants it she'll have it eventually, just keep offering it every now and again.
p.s. I found a bargain pack of driking cups (without handles) in B&M's. 4 for 50p. They're nothing fancy but Tom seems to get on with them really well and the tops are really secure.DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 19017/05/08 - Total on DMP: £10025.7007/05/14 - Total on DMP: £1666.20 DFD: July 2017!!Baby Tomos born 5th June 2009 - 6lb 5oz :jWeight Loss Target - to lose 60.8lb by NYE 2015 - 37.6lb TO GO0 -

Hi everyone!
Just waiting for Benjamin to wake up from his nap so we can take him into town to get his feet measured again. He has had his shoes for 3 1/2 months now so hopefully he will have grown enough for new ones!
No DSS today, he is at a wedding with his mum, and it is really quiet without him! We are picking him up in the morning and we are taking the boys to the Severn Valley Railway for a trip on the steam train :T
After we have been into town we are going to pop and see MIL and try to butter her up so she will take Benjamin next weekend. We have booked 2 nights in a hotel  have never been away for 2 nights before.
