Santander ISA - How backwards
Comments

. . but when I try and withdraw money (by clicking on withdraw) a page comes up saying "Cannot withdraw funds from this type of account, please contact us".
Sorry if this sounds like a daft question but are you sure you haven't got a fixed-rate ISA instead of the Flexible ISA? If you can't withdraw, it doesn't seem particularly "flexible".
In my experience, the term "withdraw" refers to paying out to a linked account. Have you got a "Payments" button, as suggested by Stompa. If so, you could try that button instead.

It's definitely a flexible ISA.
When I click payments or Set up new payment it says: Error code: EBAN_0004 There are no valid accounts (Linked to your card) available for this transaction.
When I click move money it say: pay from "ISA", pay to "ISA" in the drop down lists.
So Santander were right, there is no way to take money out of this ISA besides over the phone or in branch.0 -
I'm not sure why you need the account to be linked to your card in order to make a payment? When I click payments or Set up new payment it says: Error code: EBAN_0004 There are no valid accounts (Linked to your card) available for this transaction.
Either way, I'd contact them and point out that other users are able to make online payments from this account, so why can't you.Stompa0 -
I am in similar position to OP - have just set up a Santander account by post - took forever! Now trying to get online banking set up (I'd be happy with just viewing the balance as I can send money to it by BACS I assume?) - above link suggests I need a card number, which obviously I don't have. Is going to be a phonecall?Consumerist wrote: »Edit:
If you go to this web page you should be able to register online. Click on the Register now button0 -
Another daft question:
Have you already set up the payee account (in your ISA account) i.e. an account into which you want to deposit the money withdrawn ?

I have a mortgage account with Santander and went for the ISA last weekend, as it wouldn't let me apply for it online, so went into the branch. I was then told "as of last week you now MUST have a current account with Santander to open up an ISA" - when I asked if I could setup a current account, I was told that I need to make an appointment" So having a large mortgage isn't enough. I gave up, and will go for Barclays instead.
May be worthwhile updating the t&c's on the site, as you certainly can't apply online for this (website now directs to "apply - goto your branch".
Also - FYI. I have asked Abbey 4 times now to register me for online access to my mortgage, they say they have sent it out, but I have not received anything. I would hate to think someone else has access!!0 -
Oh dear, that dreaded word "Abbey". We are having a lot of trouble with them atm. Good luck0

I inter-use Abbey/Santander, meaning the same thing - same service. I never had to go into a branch for a £200k mortgage, bit surprised that I have to arrange a meeting for an ISA... lol.
More hassle to save than to spend (yet again).. am away to phone them again..0 -
The reason they want a meeting is so that they can flog you some sort of "investment" product rather than let you set up a straight savings account !0

After several days of trying to set up a transfer option from my Direct Isa Acct to my Lloyds current acct I think I may have done it! Every time I made a call I got a call centre. One person told me I'd got the wrong number & would give me the correct one. She gave me the number I had rung & when I pointed this out, she hung up! Never have I experienced such constant incorrect information. However, I did get through to the "Isa help" department ( 0845 600 0181). I was told the reason Santander don't allow transfers from Isa's online, is to avoid errors! Ha ha! Anyhow in my case , as it was the first time I had attempted to transfer from this Isa account, I had to be put through to another department for "extra" security details to be taken. They needed my Isa acct number, my Lloyds acct number & sort code & my national insurance number. Once that had been completed they said the money should be in my acct within 3-4 working days ( won't hold my breath just yet!). In the future when I wish to transfer again to my Lloyds acct I have to phone & do the same although obviously they won't need the extra security as before.I was told you can also get a form from your branch to obtain the transfer facility. Good luck!0
