Just been past these boxes - after a week of being in place they have now been removed leaving just the grey metal poles and nothing on them.

Anymore suggestions?

I went past this location today, and two of the boxes have reappeared - this time before the camera.

Any ideas?

its a radar traffic counter!!!!
it just counts traffic if you look in the side there is a small hole.
We use them at work all the time :D

I assume the road has two lanes?
Usually 2 cables are laid accross the road which counts cars and can calculate speed, however because of problems installing cables over 2 lanes radar/laser counters are easier and safer to install!

Yes there are two lanes - there are no wires accross the road.

yep just as i thought!!!
As the counters were placed in two different locations they are obvs used more for speed readings then counting!
Councils have millions of traffic counts and speed records its scary really!
