I'm not sure if they're a charity (I assume they are) but I'd like to nominate the NSAAA. See https://www.nsaaa.co.uk
Best wishes.

jojo1978 wrote:I'd like to nominate meningitis trust,
http://www.meningitis-trust.org/
The Meningitis Trust is an international charity with a strong community focus, fighting meningitis through the provision of support, education & awareness and research.
Its close to my heart as my daughter almost died when she was 2, due to the lack of knowledge and awareness at the time, about meningitis and septicaemia
I would support Jojo:
Meningitis is the biggest killer of children in this country for deaths through disease and yet treatments can be effective if the disease is caught early enough. At it's most dangerous it can present with septicemia and can kill a health child in hours and yet most parents do not know what to look for, do you?
Recovery from meningitis can be slow, side effects range from deafness and behavioural change to tissue damage and loss of limbs.
The Trust is a small charity the is fighting this awful illness in 3 ways:
Research for a permanent solution.
Awareness, the only defence until vaccines are available.
Support, to victims and their familes, the impact of this disease touch more than the victim.
Like many parents we knew nothing about this diease, but are now experts for all the wrong reasons so it's a cause dear to our hearts.
Meningitis is thankfully rare but you really can make a difference by knowing the signs and symptoms.

I would like to nominate The Alzheimer's Society.
http://www.alzheimers.org.uk
It is something close to my heart, my Grandmother suffers terribly from this disease and yet cannot be cured because not enough is known about Alzheimers and more research must be carried out.
It is deeply upsetting and distressing to see someone with this condition and even worse when it is family.
I would also like to nominate The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. I think what Michael J Fox is doing to find a cure for this disease is fantastic and should encourage everyone to get behind this charity and support it fully.

In fact, while writing this post, I have donated money to both. It only takes a few seconds to donate, click away!0 -
I'd like to nominate MSF http://www.msf.org/ - because they are just so brave, wading in with non-partisan help where others fear to tread.0

I would like to nominate the IBS Network, a support charity for people suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome. https://www.ibsnetwork.org.uk
IBS is a huge problem in the UK which causes sufferers to experience very painful and embarrassing symptoms such as diarrhea and agonising abdominal pain.
It is often overlooked and belittled, but its effects on sufferer's lives are very real. Sufferers with severe IBS often lose their jobs, struggle to maintain relationships, and even become suicidal because of the long-term nature of the disorder (many people suffer for 10, 20, 30, 40 years).
The IBS Network does some great work on a shoestring budget, and deserves more recognition.

I would like to nominate The British Heart Foundation
http://www.bhf.org.uk/
The aim of the British Heart Foundation is to play a leading role in the fight against disease of the heart and circulation so that it is no longer a major cause of disability and premature death.
Like everyone else whom has nominated I have had personal experience which has encouraged my support for this charity. I lost my father due to heart failure some years ago, the information provided by this charity really can prolong life & could even make you a life saver.0 -
