The prices look as if there going up and down on a daily basis
thing is how do we know if the price is up that day or down . Pot luck I guess unless you're prepared to ring up everyday for the same break with the same accomadation and hope it has fallen in price. :j.Capital one was £1000.00 now £0.00:j
Barclaycard was £250.00 now £190. 00
Asda credit card was £500.00 now £0.00:j
Aim to be credit card free by December 2012... Mostly done0 -
I'm yet to see any price drops, only increases as the dates draw nearer.
That strategy led to me paying £100 more!0 -

Great in theory, but my children are now at the GCSE and A level Exam stage at school, so even if you have advance notice of when their exams are ( and these days they are not confined to May and June) we never seem to get much notice re the practicals, and other assessed work that has to be done periodically throughout the year. The school also often lay on special revision and study classes even during school holidays ( easter and May) so even those dates are not guaranteed for me to be able to book in advance.
I don't think taking out insurance will help as I don't think it covers having to cancel a holiday because of exams or school work
In all the 20+ years we have been going to CP, I have only got it slightly cheaper than the full brochure price on a couple of occasions - via the CPWEB code which CP sent us themselves.
With most other types of holidays you have a printed brochure price, which you can get last minute deals on - like my cruise. But with CP prices changing as time goes by, and usually going up in price, it seems to be more like Rail tickets - and guess what, I can rarely afford to travel on them either
Ah well, just have to keep my eyes peeled for last minute cruise deals again:D0 -

I am thinking of going for a 2 day Christmas break. Has anyone been for Christmas, does it get sold out or will they discount nearer the time?0

We've been going to CP for years and this year they've decided to NOT do promotional codes as such. I rang customer services and asked why prices weren't going down and was told they want to stop the last minute bargains and would prefer to drop the prices long term and get people to book early, which is all fine and dandy but we didn;t manage to go last year and therefore didn't get a promotional code/discount for booking early so had to take pot luck this year.
The woman told me they usually have 95% occupancy and 'don't care' if they don't sell out because they will do maintenance on properties that need some updating if they aren't booked.
I love their holidays but don't go a bundle on their customer service at all, never have!

Not giving discounts is not poor customer service. It's good business sense. As they long as they are making profit they are getting it right. If they acheive a 95% + occupancy rate without discount codes then they have got it spot on.
Even if you had managed to go last year you would still have had to take pot luck this year. The only "offer" there is now is the "come back soon" offer but even that no longer gives discount. Instead you get £25 centre parcs vouchers, free insurance and a price promise which is designed to give you the confidence to book early knowing if the prices went down you can claim the difference and therefore not lose out by having booked early. In reality the prices are cheaper the earlier you book and this promise is more to give confidence I'm sure - again clever stuff in my view. They are a business after all!
I can't speak for any poor service you may have had in the past but from what you have put in your post I don't see any evidence of any this time.MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -
I might have to bite the bullet then. I think the kids will enjoy the Christmas experience at Center Parcs.0

You enjoy a holiday more if you feel that you've got a bargain. You're then more likely to spend more. I'm a big fan of vouchers and discount codes. Just wish they'd join Tesco Clubcard rewards.0
