I don't think that is the point most responders are making.
The thing is the dealer has cocked up and has offered no incentives to sort "their" mess out. They are just using threats.
I think we all realise mistakes happen and if the dealer has made a mistake he should be grovelling to the buyer and at least cover out of pocket expenses, a firm apology and some gesture of goodwill (and that probably if offered early doesn't have to be very much).
I totally agree. But for some people to suggest that the dealer should just hand the car over is unrealistic and perhaps even immoral.Happy with my advice? The please use the 'thanks' button vvvvvvvvvvvvv0 -
I dont think anyone suggested that the dealer should hand the car over?
At the very least the dealer should cover the cost of fuel to get to and from the premises and I'd also be looking for some sort of compensation for what is probably going to take 5 hours of your time.0 -

tell garage ok come and take your car back, but tell them you want your trade in back as well! that might just shut them up.0

That won't work they (the garage) own the trade in since they have paid off the finance on it.
Not true. The finance won't be settled until the new agreement comes in to force on the new(er) vehicle. Currently it's still the responsibility of the OP's friend to continue to pay the HP until the new agreement comes in to force, as the previous agreement remains.Happy with my advice? Not true. It will be the responsibility of the garage to clear the finance on the previous car as soon as it becomes theirs, NOT when the finance starts on the new car. The garage bought the car off the O/P the day he picked up their new car.0
