Do you not think you could make that judgement before trying to force it through?

I think we may be in danger of getting too personal here. Lets look at the results of this post.
    • most people agree it is immoral for the car driver to park on the pavement and then sue when their car is damaged by a pedistian (which I agree with)
    • the person who hit the car caused the damage
    • local councils have bylaws that protect people and affect the law
    • the person who caused the damage is at fault, by law
    • bylaws protect car drivers in certain boroughs
    • if car drivers sticks to the road, they would never be able to park on their driveway for fear of driving over a footpath - if pedestrians never walked on the roads, they'd never cross it
    • some people posting here have a poor understanding of UK law
    • the law is an !!! (a*s)
    • if you are really under threat of being sued, contact a solicitor
    • you household insurance policy will normally cover you against this sort of litigation
    • it's Friday night and I'm off for a beer.
I think it's fair ro say that there is an equal balance of opinion here.....up the UK.

    Cheerio.

I think the reason there are so many strong views against the car owner here is because people think of the situation happening to them with their kids and people are quite rightly extremely protective of their kids and even something remotely related like this can invoke strong emotions.

At the end of the day we have to be law abiding citezens, which means we let the law system hand down justice rather than dish it out ourselves.
