Parking illegally doesn't detract from the damage caused by the pram owner.

The 2 are separate. If a Traffic Warden tickets the car, or they move it, that is the end of the illegal parking. The damage remains and must be made good by the pram owner.

Whilst I totally sympathyse with the pram owner, having 2 kids both in prams at the moment myself, it is the responsibility of the pram owner to pay for the damage. After all they did cause the damage through their own actions. If I was the car owner and the pram owner handed over their details I'd be getting a witness and then going down the small claims route, or just let my insurance company persue them as I have legal cover on my policy.

Incidentally OP, are you the car owner or the pram owner?

ps. There's many a time I've wanted to do the same as the pram owner to inconsiderate parkers.

Sounds like there was no reason to damage the car. The pram owner surely must have been able to tell whether or not the pram will fit through the gap without damagaing the car. In order to damage the car it sounds like the pram owner must have used considerable force to squeeze the pram through and subsequently cause the damage.

Like others said, could have crossed the road and reported the car if they felt it was causing a problem.

I'd tell the car owner to get lost. Parking on the pavement is illegal.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

So is criminal damage. Doesn't matter if it was a sledge hammer used or a childs pram.

The pram owner could have reported the car being parked illegally and let the justice system take it's course. Instead the pram owner took the law into their own hands and handed down some justice of their own.

This point is particularly relevant for a lot of households.
There is currently no national legislation banning the parking of all vehicles on the pavement, due to the wide range of circumstances and locations where pavement parking occurs. For example in some narrow residential roads with a lack of off-street parking provision, drivers have little option but to park on the pavement to avoid causing traffic hazards. The Government has no plans at present to introduce new legislation specifically aimed at banning pavement parking on a national scale.

hmmm lets see pram scratch vs car scratch.

Big deal a pram costs peanuts VS a car.

The pram pusher needs to remove the chip off their shoulder and use common sense when presented with a narrow passage. I honestly can't believe someone couldn't judge a gap like that and so carries on pushing to the degree damage occurs.

People nowadays, make you sick :rotfl:

Really, many prams cost more than £700, plenty of cars out there worth less than that. That is all. :A
