Help. lost photos whilst trying to make backup

    No they weren't 0 bytes before I tried to copy them. Photos, thumbnails were all definitely there.

    ok then work on the backup partition, and restore any data found to there - this software isn't free btw, but it will tell you if anything is recoverable.

    I presume you have checked the recycle bin?

    This may possibly allow you to view the thumbnails, but it sounds like thumbs.db has been updated.

    I've tried to unzip it, but it doesn't seem to want to run.

    what happens? You need the correct one for the disk format, ntfs or fat

    The zip file should have a setup.exe, run that.

    LOL - I hadn't checked the recycle bin, but have now, not there.

    Most likely NTFS. If you go into 'My Computer' and right click on Drive C, followed by PROPERTIES, it'll show you. Prolly under the 'general' tab. It'll say NTFS file system.
