It never fails to amaze me how some people are so critical of this amazing site that we have & can access just about on a continual 24 hours basis.
At the end of the day we are lucky enough to have access to this site for free & yet some people still find it neccessary to be critical & unappreciative
I agree totally with your comments...
We are darn lucky to have free use of this amazing website, which saves us all a small fortune on a regular basis... :j
Many thanks to MSE Martin :A & his team... :T

Why does this have to be done during the day. This work should be scheduled for overnight.
Who are we to ask why, Just appreciate the site we have, and be grateful.
And no not all server issues are dealt with overnight, My hubby is an oracle dba with some of the largest clients in this country and he rarely does anything past 6pm.

Hi everyone,
We'll be shutting down the Forum on Friday morning (Friday 23rd April) between the hours of 9am and 11am while we make some changes to the server configuration. This is to allow us to roll out new forum features down the line. For now all you should notice is that the web address (URL) for some Forum pages may change.
Apologies for the inconvenience.
Won't this affect the forum's search engine rankings?0 -

Will this affect the links given in many of the threads, or will they be converted automatically?0 -

As in pages using forumdisplay.html & similar now just use the standard forumdisplay.php?
Hasn't broken any links for me. As should be the case if that is the only change.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Site is no longer showing some posters' rossettes under their user names, just red crosses - could just be my computer but it was showing them before the upgrade.
Also when I have tried to amend a post and add a smiley, I get a screen telling me my actions are invalid and I have to report this to an administrator.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0
