Friend of mine has one, and he loves it. I tried it out and it wasn't for me. It depends on personal preference.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Probably an element, certainly it was raised before that HTC were interested for that reason.0 -
HP have already said that they're going to be spending more on R&D and marketing than Palm were - hardly patent trolling!
BillScarab - see this is the problem with the internet. If you just sit and read websites and forums (fora?) you'd think that everyone is business had a BB and every consumer had an iPhone. There are far more Nokias in Europe/UK than iPhones or BBs.
The competition in the market is a good thing. LeeSouth East tried webOS and didn't like it, some people really like BBs, some people like webOS, some even try everything and prefer iPhone - my point is not to just be a fashion victim and just by the sexy phone with the logo on it, even if you haven't a clue what it does...
The problem with webOS is that not enough people know about it. Marketing £ that Palm has lacked but HP has committed to spending will hopefully change that...0 -

Well personally I'm not a fashion victim and my comments aren't just based on what I've read on the internet but from personal experience. I work for a large American multinational and for employees with business phones the choice is from a couple of Nokias or a Blackberry if you need mobile email/internet. Palm isn't even an option.
I just can't see how HP/Palm are hoping to take a significant market share. Like it or not one of the main drivers for people buying smartphones is the Apps available and WebOS is far behind Android and even further behind the iPhone.
To get people to buy Palm phones they have to offer something that you can't get with the competition and I don't see what they have to offer that is so compelling. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Sorry to bump this one up (been really out the loop recently)
I have had my pre since March and have not had any complaints whatsoever. The buyout of palm by HP is fantastic news. If HP allow palm to still be branded palm then HP's R&D and palms web OS will be a killer. Anyway, the only downside to the Pre is the battery life. A normal day see's me charging it at least once (on the touchstone. Amazing piece of kit) or swapping the battery which is a mission in itself! The OS is very easy to use and even better with advanced gestures. The other thing is the over the air updates to your apps. Just make sure you don't use a 3G connection to do it. If there's a lot of apps, your used MB's will shoot up!
It really is a good phone. I have no complaints with it really.
I do have beef with o2 though. They sell 3g enabled phones in an area where a 3g connection is ropey at best. I can be in the lounge and have full 3g signal and then walk out the back for a cigarette and the signal drops to GPRS. Luckily it does have wireless but surely o2 should check if the area can have the best signal... Saying that, the news about phones not causing cancer means masts will be able to go up where they weren't allowed so that should alleviate the problem somewhat0 -
They are indeed, 28th May.O2 Germany have confirmed that they'll be stocking the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus, so I wouldn't be so quick to write them off in the UK. In fact, I bet they'll be here before the Autumn.0 -

Well I'm glad I'm wrong. But I bet they have a 2 week sales windows till iPhone 4 arrived and o2 stop marketting them.
Plus they are still pricing them at the premium end of the market, the Desire is probably the next best thing to an iPhone and thats cheaper than these.
Sorry it's negative you you know thats what will happen.0
