I dont think this is true any longer, Ofgem want readings within the last few days with your FIT's application now :(.
    Here is E-on's statement;

How to apply for FiT payments
Before you apply, please read our FiT factsheet (PDF) to make sure that your device qualifies.

Please note: for your FIT application to be valid, you must include a generation meter reading taken during the last 5 days. If you submit a reading older than this timeframe your application will not be valid and we will contact you to reapply.

I must have been lucky then, installers were very quick with certification, and it timed with my electric bill being due (had just paid one).

    Hi Poohbear,

Where are you and what sort of ground are you built on?

Why do you need to drill rather than trench?

Any chance of getting together with neighbours?

    John

We can't trench as we have bedrock too close to the surface and we had massive problems digging for the septic tank. We would love to get together with neighbours but those who are interested are too far away. We may get together with them for a wind turbine at a later date.

We are built on granite! The drilling companies tell us that it is easier to drill on hard ground than gravel so we have something to be thankful for.

  • There is a spare drilling rig or three in Chile:D.

I would think drilling into quartz hard rock would cost a fortune - the only thing going for granite is that is has a high thermal conductivity, so perhaps you won't need so much/many boreholes as in other strata.

    Hi All

Latest analysis of european average pv market spot prices for October have been published ....

    http://www.solarserver.com/service/pvx-spot-market-price-index-solar-pv-modules.html

.... looks like european manufactured panels dropped by another 0.5% in the month. Total for the year now stands at 10.8% reduction reflecting in a spot price of €1.81/Wp (approx £1.57/Wp).

Remember, these are spot prices and do not reflect discounting for scheduled volume supply into distribution or direct to high volume installers.

That's essentially correct. The only slight problem could be that when you do submit the application, with the MCS certificate, the company will ask for a current reading, as well as the date of installation.

If you provide an accurate reading of the meter at that point, you'll miss out on the amount generated before that date.

I was contacted yesterday by the FiT team at E-on to say my certificate has arrived and could I please send in the FiT application form with a reading from yesterday - I queried the 'within 5 days' statement and was told that the reading must be that day so that it is within 5 days by the time they receive the form (snail mail only, they won't accept it on email) and have processed it.
Last few days hasn't been the best weather so I'm not over-bothered, but had the last fortnight been constant sun I'd feel pretty miffed.

Just curious to know how others are doing with generating at the moment.
As I have mentioned previously in another thread, our roof is quite steeply pitched, at 49 degs. So we are hoping to "gain" on amount generated in clear bright winter days, when the sun is low the sky is clear. For comparison, yesterday, we generated 10 kw, and one other day this week, we generated 13 kw. This morning my monitor is showing anywhere between 10(00) & 25(00) which hopefully will by the end of the day translate into another 10-12 kw produced today. So long as the clouds stay away, we are getting about 6 hrs a day bright sunshine. I have never taken so much notice of winter sunshine before!!! Just wish we could get rid of the huge poplar tree in neighbours (a few doors away) garden, as it affects the sunlight somewhat as the sun is getting so low (luckily late int e afternoon). Although it has shed its leaves, so a lot of the sun does get through, but there is a noticeable difference on small monitor.
