Are ANY insurance companies paying out for Ash?

UKHCGIRL - Fortis (mainly available as Post Office Insurance) is my personal recommendation from my view as a biller and getting IC's to pay they are second to none. An excellent company.
They are not the cheapest but they were first to announce that they are covering the Ash delays and they are very quick in after claims service. If you get a quote and iif t is not too much then I would advise get it. But do check the prices and compare to Insure&Go (they are not covering all ash claims, only some) but your loyalty may make it not worth changing. Check before it runs out.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Not sometimes - ALLWAYS!C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

POINT OF INTEREST - it's getting bad for some here - people are running out of meds (I am asking our hospital if anything can be done for those who need meds or treatment). Money is tight for some people but SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Disney are giving free tickets to stranded passengers.
There are hotels and appartments that are allowing short term says and at reasonable rates too.
Good for all you Florida businesses that are helping.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Off topic but.....We has someone say they had to pay £500 for insulin in Florida as they had run out? Is that the going rate there? Or would that include the med consultation?0 -
OLU Direct are paying out on lost car hire, accommodation payments etc as long as you have confirmation from your airline that the flight was cancelled due to the inclement weather0

Swiftcover appear to be allowing claims under "departure delay/abandonment".

I will start off by admitting that i chose my annual travel insurance based predominantly on price although did do some comparisons for what was covered based on what i was bringing and what i was doing. Surprise surprise my travel insurance company Insure with Ease are not covering any expenses - luckily for us that my boyfriend and i did some quick thinking at the airport and decided not to board our Melbourne to Seoul flight thinking (rightly) that our connecting flight to London would be cancelled. As such we are ok - we are staying with my family who are not only providing accommodation but also feeding us, paying for phone calls to find out updates, ferrying us back and forth from the airport and so on.... Had we decided to go onto Seoul or had we been on holiday elsewhere we would have definately been in a pickle as our money like our holiday had basically come to an end... I would agree with all the people who have posted on here that you get what you pay for and my situation is a very good example - our annual policy (with cover for some sports and outside Europe) for myself and my boyfriend cost 45 pounds. Usually i fly to Australia without any insurance at all, as i am from here so health costs are not an issue for me and being young, healthy and very much not into any extreme anything (!) i never really thought of other eventualities. However, for my trip to America i went overboard and went for a much better insurance having been warned by others. I guess what i am trying to say is that you can't predict all eventualities, and while for some paying a lot for insurance doesn't really matter, for others it means the difference between going on the holiday at all. I think i will probably continue to go for the cheapest most of the time but will also be aware that volcanos happen and maybe i need to be better prepared next time just in case i don't find myself in such "cushy" circumstances!0
