I have been with TalkTalk for approx 3 years now. I was with NTL/VM but only 2mb BB at £24 per month! With an average BT bill of £24 per month of which only £6 was of calls I changed. Now I have 8mb BB inclusive of weekend and evening calls and pay £17.99 per month. Only two losses of service in that time, and only for a few hours at that

As has been said above - if you can get o2 home broadband Standard (or Premium if your line is short enough) - that will be just a 1yr commitment, with a 30-day moneyback bale out window anyway - and with current £backs you can even BE IN POCKET for a year's usage - ie net £2.50 in your band and 1yr service - see my other thread here.

What lets TalkTalk down in my experience is finding the right person to talk to if something goes wrong.

My guiding principles in choosing providers have become:

choose on the basis of customer service experiences / surveys etc - thus Plusnet comes out well; Orange badly; O2 well etc;

don't give up BT line rental because many of the alternative companies will not allow you to use override numbers such as 18185. Using them is very cheap. Martin's article explains all that;

though bundled deals can save money, a bundled deal with poor customer service is double or triple trouble.
