Hello
A pleasant young chap from talktalk was around today and I've provisionally signed up for their broadband/free calls package at £18.48. Now I've had a look on this site and some others and see that some people have major issues with them and I'm wondering whether to cancel. Currently I have a BT line and broadband from plusnet, switching to talktalk will save me a bit of cash so it did seem like a good move. The 24 month contract and 40Gb download limit is a bit of a concern.
So, techy folk among you what are my best options? I've checked out the sam knows site and the LLU options available to me are AOL, 02 or Talktalk.
Thanks.

Cancel TT and go with O2 LLU - much better! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

and do it yesterday. First three months free and £50 rebate using Quidco.0 -
24 month contract!
O2 or BEthere (same people really) are pretty good.
samknows.com exchange search
Type in your info there for a list of available ISP in your area.

Was on talktalk but got fed up with the inconsistent service, periods of being offline or so slow it wasn't worth trying.
However,if you only log on occasionally or are a V light user,it maybe ok?
For someone like me who is a medium/heavy user the saving wasn't worth the aggro to the point where I paid IRO of £60 to leave TT early.....0 -

If you sign up online you can get an 18m contract, no connection fee (otherwise £29.99) and Quidco cashback. So why (ever) sign up on the doorstep?
But, if you have O2 as an LLU option, it's a vastly better choice in every way.
PS: calls are not 'free' with TT, the E&W calls are inclusive with your tariff. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
You've not been offered anything better than you could of got online.
The other thing to bear in mind is TalkTalk will take over your phone line - which means, even after 24 months, you won't be able to switch broadband provider without first moving your line back to BT.
Another thread on here says that a 'return to donor' costs £35 - but it's still an added expense and another hoop to jump through if you decide you want to leave.
I'd agree with everyone else on here cancel it and then perhaps wait for O2 to launch their home phone service, it's going to cost £17 for 8Mb unlimited broadband, line rental and e&w calls. You can register your interest here to be contacted when it's available http://broadband.o2.co.uk/telesales/homephone/broadband.jsp0 -
I am sorry guys but I have been with talktalk for 5 years now, moved house in between and everything has been sweet and sound from day one. I really cannot complain and my monthly talktalk bill is the only one I am happy to see...! I promise that I have nothing to do with the company and know that many people have issues but touching wood it has worked out just perfect for me. I have friends and family abroad so need an international flat and apart from the odd day without internet connection (maybe 5 days in as many years) my experience has been fantastic and I wont change even for a slightly cheaper deal! the speed of the internet you can get in your house is greatly determined by your location, not only what the provider offer you. search google for some speed checks, your provider should be able to tell you how fast a line they can give you before you sign up.0
