Police no MOT or Tax or insurance
What happens if stopped by police and you have no tax, ins or MOT?
On the TV shows they take the car now, it cost a couple of hundred to get it back.
My question is if its an old banger and you dont care about getting it back, are there any other charges?
Do you get points on your licence or have to go to court or pay any charges?

You can sign the ownership over to the Police there and then.
The Police can still do you for having no insurance...fine, points etc..."It's official, MSE's harbouring total fruitcakes">^..^<0 -
What are the chances of getting a fine?0
-
Yeah I thought that would be the case too.
But it seems from most of the police video programs that the driver can walk away (literally) and the car gets crushed.0 -
They walk away in the program. The prosecution and court case come later.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

It's up to a £1000 fine for not having an MOT. If there is actually anything wrong with the car, you could get points and a fine for each fault found.
No tax may result in a fine from the DVLA and you may also get a £60 fixed penalty for not displaying a valid tax disc. IIRC you will have to pay the back tax owed since the last tax disc ran out.
It could get expensive very quickly!
I managed to drive around for over four months with my old tax disc in the window without any problems. I didn't realise until I found the new one still in it's envelope when I was tidying some papers. I was lucky.0 -

Think you have to go to court, I know my ex did anyway. You'd definitely get points and a fine.Everyone I know wants to be a millionaire.
Not me, I want to be a billionaire.0 -

Lots of people in Bradford see nothing happen to them at all. Highest proportion of uninsured cars in the country.
Plus insurance costs what if you're young. £1000 or much more in high risk areas?! Why pay that when you can just ditch the £50 car, and get a stupidly low fine like £50 in court?!
Then eventually you get banned from driving, but you were driving illegally in the first place, so why is a ban going to stop you?!0
