Please help - Acer is ripping me off.

Options
I bought a Acer computer in Feb 2009 from PcWorld.

13th Jan 2010 i got an email, from Acer Advantage Team telling me that my one year warranty was coming to an end, and in the email was offers to extend the warranty, which i did, i paid £57.00 which was for 3 Years On-Site for PC Aspire that was on 15th Jan 2010.

On the 15th Jan 2010 i got this email.

Good Afternoon

thank you for your email the warranty registration has not been completed as yet what you need to do is to go back into the warranty and print the contract off and then send to the address provide were the warranty will be fully activated for you.

Kind regards

Acer Advantage team

I emailed and i also rang them to tell hem i did not have any receipts for the computer, but as i was paying for it over 4 years i have that info, they did not want that, but i could not find the receipt. And Pcworld do not have any record of it, as it was over a year.

So i then eventually got this email from them.

That has you can see above was 17th Feb 2010.

I have since written 30 times via email, i have been on to possibly 20 phone calls, all charging me 10p a minute, to contact this team, and ask for a refund.

I once got a nice girl who told me if i would email her the email i wanted to send to them, she would forward it on, she tried to do this twice, each time, like all the times i had tried, hers and all mine came back, she said there email inbox is full, but the customer services said they do not have a telephone number to contact them on.

I am very stressed, very upset, because i work part time, i am disabled, don't have much confidence as it is, and £57 is alot of money to me, i just do not know what to do next. Apart from cry.

I have kept all my emails that i have tried to send, i also still have all the "System Administrator" emails once i have tried to send to them.

I have tried to ring every single telephone number from google search, all this because they are ignoring me, and i want my money back.

Please if you can help, i would so very much appreciate it.

Thank you in advance,

Bliss xx

Didn't they move to Poland? Wroclaw(Vrotzwav) I think. Probably the reason from the premium numbers, so that they can pay for the international forwarding.
  • The address i had to send something too, was in Devon, i had to print something off and send, which i did and i sent to Devon UK.

Here is the number that corresponds to that address: 01752 515 515
  • Thank you Donnie, just alittle scared now trying to ring and getting a knock back, i can see why people let money go all the time with companies.

I will try ringing it tomorrow, i need to get myself geared upto do it, as i rung a number before and i had a foreign lady who didn't understand my english. So i got all worked up after i put the phone down.

I never let them get away with stealing my money.
Anyway, if you paid by card, just contact your card issuer and get them to refund your money to you.

I paid via Visa Debit through Nationwide, what would i do? never thought i could do that, heard of people doing so with Vista, just not sure i could with the Debit card.

Thank you for taking the time out to answer me, just having someone to talk to about this is making it feel clearer.

Acer DIETKON it says on my bank statement. But they took payment on 16th Jan, and suspended my account on 17th Feb 2010.

I sent Nationwide a email, via my online bank

Here you are; Chargebacks. As long as you initiate the process within 120 days you should be fine.

If you have a computer problem -just ask for advice on here (if you have access to another computer!) and don't bother with the warranty
  • Thank you for all your help, i did email Nationwide, and was told by a lovely chap this morning that they can pursue the £57 have no idea how long this takes, but if i did not put this thread here i would have lost it for sure, i would have been gutted.

    Another question.

I stupidly lent money to someone who said he would pay me back, is there any information on this website on what i can do to get it back, its £75. Thanks Bliss xx

You are having a tough time
As for the £75 owed to you have you tried contacting the person and asking, if you have and they are not willing to pay it back you could try Money Claim Online.
Not sure what the fees are now used to be around £20 but if you are on benefits it may be possible to get the fee waived.

You may be better asking your question on one of the other boards for advice concerning debt recovery
