You should not be using both the USB and Ethernet cables, just use Ethernet as that is the best option.

I used the yellow ended Ethernet leads first and got my connection, then switched to wireless, lost my connection, then i tried the yellow ended lead again but couldn't get my connection, then BT said to use the blue ended leads and use the BT disc and got my connection back, then this morning i used my wireless again and lost the connection again, then i put my blue ended lead back in and thats what i'm using nowThe whole idea of buying the home hub was to use it for wireless connection, but it seems i can't. So is the problem the hub or my computer?

Our Netgear Router and Belkin Network Adaptor (BT Line) also looses its connection - quite a few times a day.... most irritating ! we have to reconnect by pressing the Refresh button.
On one occasion - had to turn the whole system off , and off at the wall, unpluged the wireless left it for a few mins and then turned the lot back on - all was then ok. This has happened to me whilst completing a job application online - it lost its connection and I had to restart the whole application again...:mad:0 -

According to this post of yours, BT are the muts nuts when it comes to sorting out your problems! Obviously not!
Assuming that this blue ended lead is USB, I don't see that telling you to use that is helpful to you at all. You should try to set it up correctly wired using the Ethernet cable first and then move on to using wireless on another PC, which will need to be correctly configured to ensure that it is secure.

We've got a Belkin wireless Router which had been doing just this for the last several weeks, we initially blamed Telewest as their site was always sooooo slow that it failed, but last week all the lights on the Router went off and that was it, no internet access. I phoned the helpline and spoke to a very nice English man who tried various things and when it didn't work, just agreed to replace the one that was broken as Belkin have a life time produce warranty on all items. New one arrived within 5 days, plugged it in and all is ok. It may be worth giving Belkin a ring if you've got problems.0

Why don't you simply leave your desktop PC connected via the Ethernet cable? Just because you have wireless, it doesn't mean that every PC needs to be connected using wireless and it is better to keep one hard wired.
then i tried the yellow ended lead again but couldn't get my connection,
Your Hub should be permanently connected to ADSL, so if you leave the main PC hard wired this won't happen.
then BT said to use the blue ended leads and use the BT disc and got my connection back, then this morning i used my wireless again and lost the connection again,
So using the blue USB cable did not help the situation, so go back to the best option of using an Ethernet connection.
then i put my blue ended lead back in and thats what i'm using nowThe whole idea of buying the home hub was to use it for wireless connection, but it seems i can't. So is the problem the hub or my computer?
Unfortunately from the information given, it's difficult to say as you have not fully explained your setup and what you have done. Does the laptop still lose the connection of it is close to the hub or is it only when it's situated on another floor of your house? You should try to set up one PC hard wired and then add any other PC's using wireless step by step.

I'm trying to connect it close to the hub. So can i use the hub wired to one computer and another computer by wireless, is that what you are saying?
I can't get a connection with the yellow Ethernet lead, thats why i'm having to use the blue ended USB lead.
The wireless adaptor i'm trying to use is a Belkin wireless G notebook network card. I've installed it and set it up using my Hubs security key number, but nothing happens.
I bought the hub so that i could use it by wireless so i havn't got leads hanging everywhere. The wireless was in use for about 10 minutes and i was able to connect to the internet for that time, but then i lost the connection and havn't been able to get it back via wireless since.0
