    My friends parents did the same after she thought she'd got pregnant at the horrifically early age of 18. Her parents made her choose between him and them, so she did. Had a happy marriage and two sons. I think her mother lived to regret being so difficult and so stupid.

    not hugely sure of the best advice as I don't have children, but maybe make it known to DS and his GF that you are more than willing to talk this through with her Mum. If she wants a stand off, don't give her one so you aren't sinking down to her level.

    Guess it's hard at that age for the kids involved. Is the mum being over-protective and won't cut the apron strings? If she is, there is every chance the GF will end up rebelling and either seeing your DS secretly or walking out.
