OS For Monday 19th April 2010

Options
Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for 19th April 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Hi Everyone

Just had to start the thread. I'm a Grandma!:T:T

DD Caroline had a baby girl at 8.50pm yesterday, my 51st birthday!!!!!! What a pressie! 6lb 11oz Imogen Jane. I'm so happy, she is gorgeous! saw her an hour after she was born, and she's perfect.

Congrats hilstep :j:j:j How lovely!!!:D I love her name :j:T
There's nothing nicer than grandchildren........ you get to give them back
:rotfl::rotfl: Seriously, I found grandparenthood far more emotional than parenthood. I think it's because there's more time to consider everything. Anyway enjoy, enjoy, enjoy :D And belated Happy Birthday, the very best birthday gift ever:j:j:j ( I have to admit to being older than you :(:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)

jc - fingers crossed for your OH and Good luck and positive vibes for you and your family in court this week. I hope you get the best possibly outcome.
Redruby - I am enjoying the new Dr Who, too, far more than I thought I would. He has kept some of that frenetic David Tennant energy which is great to see. I do miss DT though for the eye candy.
snoozer - I hope you feel better today hon

thankyou.gifThank you all once again for the thoughts and messages and pms. You are all so kind. Am taking advantage of a window of time when I am not in pain or feeling nauseas to read back over the weekends threads so I could post. I really don't feel right posting without mentioning anyone else!
HShungry.gif Breakfast will be weetabix as it seems to settle my tummy and probably a salad or something for dinner. I will make OHs sandwiches for lunch as he put the BM on last night (as long as I am not feeling too sick) but will probably just have scrambled egg if my home-help doesn't mind making it for me.
I hope everyones week starts well. With love, light and warm gentle HShuggies.gif to anyone who wants one.

Hi everyone. I've been MIA for days now due to renovation work on the house that has involved the power being on and off at all odd times of the day, so I more or less gave up trying to post regularly! Things have, at last, calmed down a little, even though there is still loads to do, but at least I should have time to do what I really want to do now and again.

Hilstep - what fantastic news and a brilliant birthday present. I also have to admit to being older than you! There's not much that can beat becoming a grandparent - like Churchmouse, I also found it far more emotional even than becoming a parent; it's a really special feeling.

MSD - lots of (((hugs))) to you.

I've missed such a lot on here so ((((hugs))) to all that are in need at the moment, and a warm welcome to any newbies.

My house has been in chaos for weeks now and it's almost driven me mad! We've had rotten beams replaced in an attic room, a wall knocked down and a ceiling vaulted in the kitchen, two new water meters installed outside (one for the house, and the other for one of the building plots we have for sale) and, while all this was going on, the local commune have widened and resurfaced the little road that runs alongside our house. The main structural work has been done and now we are in the middle of the great big clear-up, with even more motivation to get organised now that we successfully managed to book the ferry for DS2 and his family to come out next Saturday for a week. The baby is eight months old, so we need to make sure that the whole house is dust free (and you should see the dust!). She's also on the verge of walking so we need to make it toddler-safe even though she still so young and should only just be starting to crawl! Still, I can't wait to have them all here and it's something to really look forward to.

OS-wise, it's been a bit difficult having had no working kitchen for most of last week - we've eaten out three times, which is not very OS at all but, sadly, was unavoidable. The kitchen is workable now but the meals are still of the very simple thrown-together variety. I shall at least attempt a roast today.

Well, this week is going to be really busy because we shall carry on re-organising the house, but I hope to have a lot more time to come on here.

I hope you all have a good day.

    Morning all,

Looks like it will be another beautiful day here although its very cold , will get the WM started in a while.
Sunnyday :bdaycake:Happy Birthday Have a great day xx

Hilstep, :T, congrats to you, and what a clever baby, arriving on nanny's Birthday :D

Today I need to concentrate on having a good clean through, and do some baking and online shopping, I have been tending to let the housework slide a bit, because there is so much decorating to do, but its starting to show.

Dinner tonight will be something involving the leftover chicken from yesterday.

    Have good days all x

Hello again Diva & Mioliere

    ((((Ladygrim)))

Well its Monday again and nearly back to normal, DD has today off & back tomorrow. Hasn't been the greatest of Easter hols due to work traumas and am now behind with everything again.

Today I need to - get DD a doctors appointment, get her school bus ticket. Sort out loads of essential paperwork, get to a Boxing shop miles away for stuff DS urgently needs for tonight. Negotiate the mahoosive paperwork & ironing piles :rotfl:Oh and menu plan and sort some shopping out.

Dinner is sorted for tonight though - the roast chicken we didn't have yesterday. I won £54 on the lottery :j and we spent some of it on the local indians sunday buffet:o

Anyway no time to loiter - have a great day.x
  • Hello everyone,

I've been on and off the MSE boards for ages as have lost the way a little due to one thing or another. I'm back with a vengeance now (sounds a little scary put that way!). I'm a bit more organised, getting a bit more work done and paying down all those unsightly debts.

My little family has a new plan and it'll mean a big move in the next 2 years so I really need to knuckle down. A big part of that for me is being OS, I find it much more relaxing than worrying about what everyone else around me is doing. Almost zen :D

Looking forward to getting to know everyone (again) x

Seriously i was supposed to be working but at the last minute i put in for a days leave so i`m off on my own and DH is at w*rk. Looking forward to a day where i can just potter at my leisure.

I wish that the weather was nicer, i would have loved to have brekkie in the garden but its dull and raining. Maybe it will clear up later on. I shall probably end up catching up with a few odd jobs as its not possible to ignore them but its nice to know that there`s nothing that i have to do IYKWIM :D

    Morning All

    Hillstep Congratulations! Sunnyday Happy Birthday!
MSD good to see you back, hope you continue to get stronger

D-Day for us - didn't sleep great but at least its here now and we can get it over with. The thought that DS2 might not come home with me last night started to creep in so I had to stop thinking that way. I'd be a mess if I did - although I have a young DD now, DS2 was my 'baby' (youngest of the twins lol) for 14 years!

Just hope we get sorted today - barrister did say there was a possibility that we could sit all day today and if they didn't get to us we have to go back tomorrow.....my hip is really sore today - not sure I could sit there all day.

Will try and post back later. Thank you for all the good wishes x

    Morning.
Fairly bright but a wee bit chilly this morning. Off to toddler group for the kids to burn off some energy. No school for DS and mindee as it's an inset day. In total they've had 12 days off school now.......FAR too long IMO.
Anyway need to make some twinks as I don't have any biccies at all.
Tea should be erm......erm.......erm......not sure can I get back to you on that :o
Going to make an efforts to break down my housework and do a room a day so that it's more manageable and doesn't get me down.

Hilstep - Congratulations Granny :j:j:j What a fab birthday pressie and her name is lovely.

Sunnyday - Happy Birthday  Enjoy your day of pottering.

JC - Hugs to you all. Been thinking about you this morning, I hope sense prevails in court xxx

Diva - Glad to see you posting :)

positivelypurple - Welcome to the Daily :j

Honey - Hope you're feeling better soon xx

Hugs tot hose that need them. Have a good day OS or not.
