  • Does anyone mind if I jump back in:o Had a few "issues" over the last few days and have become a bit of a hermit. Sorry I haven't caught up with the thread.
I need to get back in to it, it's not really been flying weather here so the place is a tip again:(

Can I ask a question? What is the best way to run a clean cycle on WM and DW, I don't like the chemical ones (and they are to expensive)

HHC at 11.30 if anyone wants to join me.

Although I have not posted very frequently on Flylady I have read the thread for a good few months. There are a lot of us lurkers out there. You dont know me or my circumstances except that I am about to be a retired midwife due to ill health who always gave of herself up and beyond the call of duty, with the letters and thankyous to prove it. I know that there are bad examples out there but there are also some really caring midwives working in very difficult circumstances.

Im obviously not welcome on the fly lady thread as I have challenged one of your illustrious leaders about her attitude and the appropriateness of her post to the thread. Perhaps you need to look at your ground rules again?
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all

    Today's list done :)

One load of washing out on the line.

Off to start cooking dinner (I've already made a sponge and some small fruit cakes this morning), and try to catch up on here.

    Hope everyone's OK.

Molly i'm sure you are welcome on the thread. Pigpen enjoys a challenge, so i don't think she would hold it against.
I personally have had good/bad experiences with midwives, teachers, health visitors (bane of my life, well apart from one, Nigel you were /are a star!!!!) well everyone but that's just me.Pigpen did she say in another post that she had fantastic midwives with some of her children but not so with others.

Unfortunately in this world, especially on the internet, words can come across as being blunt, nasty, inappropriate etc but face to face would sound completely different.

Just wanted to add ENJOY your retirement!!!!! Lets hope the sun's keeps shining on you!!!

No one has said you're not welcome...thing is you have only come outof lurkdom to deal with an issue you personally feel particularly strongly about.
At the time I type this your previous post to the one quoted here has 16 thanks...

About midwives...I wanted to say that on the whole the ones I met throughout my three pregnancies were great. Except one. We lost our second baby and throughout the day had an exceptional midwife. On shift change we met someone with a very different approach...Brusque, judgemental and downright horrible...I don't want to go into too much detail, but there were forms we had to sign at the end, and she took great delight in explaining the terms they used and 'not to worry about them'...cheers then.

Anyway, I agree that in any profession there are one or two who should take a long hard look at why they're doing it...but someone being rude to you in a supermarket doesn't have quite the same impact on your psyche as someone who is supposed to be supporting you.
Ishtar put it so well. I had a colleague who lost her first baby (stillborn) and had nothing but praise for the way she was supported BUT a birth is not a day-to-day event in a family - for some familes there may be only one or two births - some would-be mothers never have the experience and pleasure of it:o
if you're a midwife it's your job - you see it day to day but for the families it's a highly emotional event - and when things go wrong or when people are unpleasant or unsupportive it is remembered.
The midwife I had for most of my (failed) labour with DS was super...and defended me against an inept student with an atrocious bedside manner like a mother hen defending her chicks. But we don't all have the benefit of supportive midwives and IMHO all women deserve experienced, supportive midwives.

I'm going to have to dash to the shop *grumble* I have planned a bread-and-butter pudding for tea and got the whoopsied fruit loaf out of the freezer to make it - then discovered someone has used the last eggs *rollseyes*
