Although I havent paid any contributions since I worked in 2003, as I have been claiming since 2004, can I confirm that, if the rules stay the same, I would be put on contributions based ESA?

    Is ESA(C) contributions based?

thanks all, you've been helpful so far, and sorry for the questions.

Like the rest of us on IVB and IB?

We are losing money every week as of last year (2009) when the goverment decided that additional pensions based on NI contributions (IVB pre `95) and age allowances (IB post `95) are going to be reduced to the same rate as ESA.

Transitional protection has been removed by our current goverment and I cant see the winners of the next election rectifiying it, its going to cost me £1000 per year!

So are you saying I will NOT receive transitional protection - above says it will run till 2020.

Your and sunnyone's situationsare different. They have been claiming benefit since pre 1995, you since 2004. With you, there is less to TP.

I understand that you want to know what the future holds-we all do- but in your case, as with all on IB, the change from IB>ESA is upto 4 years away (by Mar 2014).

As I said before, if you pass the ESA medical called WCA, then you'll transfer to ESA with no loss of benefit rate.
