    Sneeky,

A friend of mine died a few months ago from cervical cancer.. aged just 38.. QUOTE]

    HI all,

Mandi - you just made me decide I am going to accept the doctors orders!

I had to have the Letz treatment back in July 2002 (they took most of my cervix away-massive big chunk of flesh in the petrie dish!) and I went every 3 months like a good person for a while - however I should have had another test done in December 2004;which I put off and off and off.

I keep being told off each and every time I go to the nurse at my doctors for my contraceptive jab (12weekly). I always say yes maybe next time. Even the doctor been in and has had a word, and I have blagged her.

I am 38. I am going to make that appointment in the morning (I know the nurse is on her hols til 25th) for last week of Aug-if she available. (Not a cop out-I will take her next appointment!)

Thanks V much, you just gave me a wake up call (or kick up the !!!!!!) that my friends cant do.:o They havent been there if you know what I mean.

    Cheers.

    Sorry!

I forgot to mention; having my treatment was easy, and really it didnt hurt during or after- HONESTLY (bit of period pain later on-and thats it)!

The docs and nurses are absolulely brilliant-they make you laugh to be honest; after all they do this every day!

I dont want anyone to think that having the letz treatment is horrible. Its not.

If you need to get looked at because of iffy cells that are abnormal; most (almost all of the) times its fine; bad specimen etc-not enough cells - you get retested and its all ok!

    Mandi - I will!

(Our local health clinic which is looking after all the ((nurse only requirements)) people at my doctors are not even having dinner breaks they are that snowed under (cant just be our nurse on her jollies then).

And to be honest - I wouldnt let anyone else do my smear test - our nurse at my doctors knows and understands my bobbly bits in there (bad first birth-didnt stop me having 2 others after that tho!) :o

Thanks-I really will. I give you permission to kick my backside til I do ok! :D

    Mandi,

Sorry to hear of your frightening "thing" too. I totally agree with you. Females need some sort of test - its been proven. I hope people are sensible and will carry on going when they get that horrible buff coloured letter.

    It may save your life!

I guess Mandi is testament to that! If we hadnt of gone - I dont know if we would be here now. ( I know I was told I possibly wouldnt get past 40 at the time in 2002) 38 and still here thanks maybe to the simple smear test!

(I know its awkward and embarrassing) The nurse at your local doctors will of done them every day.

Thanks, I understand where you are. I dont think mine was as bad - it really was a breeze (mainly due to the dr an nurse tho I have to say) cos I genuinely was terrified after being told well blar blar blar. If it helps someone else do do it an not chicken out - I know to to tell!
