I think it depends on if you are at Docs, I had my first at 16 even tho not sexually active but was taking the Pill due to periods....."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

My friend had her first test at 40, when she was still a virgin - I don't think the nurse believed her.The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

well apart from the hymen (which is easily broken anyway, apparently) there's no real test for virginity ).
and why shouldnt the nurse believe her, its not as it virginty is a disease or afflication  you'd expect better from the medical profession reallyknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

I've had two, I'm due for a third apparently (got the letter last week). Its a straight in, quick check, straight out thing. I found the nurse trying to 'make conversation' to distract me more uncomfortable than the process last timeDFW Nerd No. 140

It's not a lot different to going to the dentist - it's just ... erm.... at the other end
And the instruments are soft rounded rather than sharp  - thank goodness.
I once (badly) organised a smear test for the afternoon, following a dentist's appt in the morning. I thought to myself ... first one end, now the other :rotfl:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

I had one last week and they've changed the way they do it now. Instead of scraping the cells they have a little brush thing that brushes inside you and then the brush goes into a little pot of liquid and gets swished around. Seemingly it's a lot better than the old way and the results come back quicker. About 3-4 weeks at our practice rather than 6 -8. PD, please don't worry. I had my first one at 20 and am glad I did as I had abnormal cells and needed colposcopy and now have tests every year.
Don't worry about it as the nurse has seen it all before and it's just another procedure for her.Murphy's No More Pies Club Member No. 680
