Morning all...............(((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) if you need one....

Its a nasty, horrible wet morning here in bonnie?Scotland, and OH has just retired to bed with a dizzy...first for a while!!!

No gardening and I am about to light the fire, its blooming cold, I need my thermal socks back.

We had a busy day yesterday, Dobbies was heaving........we bought plants for the tubs and some new herbs for the herb wheel. Went and dropped off the sewing machine and then on to Suntrap for the friends of AGM. Not a happy meeting, the future of the garden is very uncertain, we need money and none seems to be forthcoming. There is a big legal problem to do with the wording of the will which the donor made when he willed part of the garden to the NTS. It is used by a local college as a base for life long learning. The bottom part of the garden which consists of the benefactors original house and the piece of the garden which surrounds it is used by the students as a refectory, the staff have an office there and the Friends also have an office where we can store stuff and we have the use of the old library, sitting room and kitchen for meeting etc. The house and gardens are in a very bad state. The harsh winter means we have lost some very rare and precious plants. The front porch of the house is dangerous, its propped up waiting repair.........

As friends of the garden we provide money for projects round the garden which we raise from plant sales and refreshments on the open day held once a year. Other organisations use the premises but do not contribute to the running of the place. They call themselves partners, but to me they are hangers on.....if they want to use the facilities they should pay to do so.

Sorry, I had better get off my hobby horse.......nothing much going on, we cannot work in the garden as its raining, so I guess I will be doing some sewing once OH rises afer his dizzy.

Supper tonight, rubber chicken and all the trimmings........I have some pulms out of the freezer, thinking about a plum pie, just thinking at the moment, whether the thoughts turn into a pie remains to be seen........

Enjoy your day you lucky people with sun!!!

    Hi All!
Thank you for the birthday wishes!:j

Went out with my cousin and his wife last night to a local Turkish restaurant. Ate far too much, mucked up the diet completely:rotfl:

Having a great day so far. DD is coming over later, nothing happening yet.......
DS phoned to say he has sent a card, via Moonpig, but he ordered it late, so it's not coming till tomorrow.

OH got me six cards, all relevant to us, and put them all round the house! I had to find them all. He's a sweetie!

Well off to enjoy the day!

    Good Morning All,

:bdaycake: Happy birthday Hillstep, hope all your wishes come true!

Diva hope you're feeling better each day, and the thought that we're all thinking of you is giving you strength.:)

JC in case I don't get on in the morning, I'll be thinking of you and yours. Can't believe this nonsense is ongoing!:(

snoozer take it easy, you're body is telling you to rest and recuperate - I know it's hard, but you need to try and do less for now if you are feeling so poorly.

stroppyjock you are funny - I had to read that twice though, still not awake this morning!

Bitsy yes, I am doing it right, its the dog wot won't :o

Speaking of Coco (as you all know I can't resist) - she has started to produce milk, so our suspicions were correct and the wee soul is having a phantom pregnancy. We let her adopt one of the boys' old cuddlies last night, and she has been mothering it, so funny, and I bought her a pig's ear yesterday, which she really took a shine too, but spent about an hour moving it around the garden and burying it in various different hidey holes. At the moment it's under some of the sand from where the path was removed, but remember it's a secret so shush and don't tell anyone!:rotfl::rotfl:

OH was away at 6.30 this morning to start his new job. Big sighs of relief all round as we are starting to find things a bit tight again. Lots of saving to be done this year, so will be continuing to live as if we are skint for a while longer, not that we are frivolous, but still avoiding buying non essentials for a while longer, clothes, "nice" things for the house, etc. Lots of OS!

Speaking of OS, today I will be doing the boys' pack up and freezing them as I got lots of whoopsied rolls yesterday in Morrisons' where I don't usually go, and doing a meal plan for the week. Also need to bake some Twinks for the snacks and maybe a pot of soup or two. I haven't forgotten I offered you a recipe, Flutterby, just haven't have a chance to dig the folder out yet! Will also change the bedsheets as now OH will be working nights Mon-Fri, so bed will be seeing 24 hour a day action. Of the sleeping alone sort, keep your minds out of the gutter you lot! :p

Have alovely day, OS or not, and have hugs all round if you're worried, sick or simply fed up!

    Morning all

:bdaycake:Enjoy your birthday Hilstep! Glad you enjoyed your meal out last night.

Rain here so a nice walk by the sea with dogs is no longer our plan! They've been round the park instead.

Lots of peeps on here busy with decorating and gardening, I see. DH has finished the kitchen and it looks fab. Might get a glass cabinet thing to put up on one wall.

Made a big pot of spicy soup - kind of a thick minestrone but without the pasta yet. I'm going to freeze it in marg tubs and then use it as either pasta sauce base or else add more stock to some and pasta to make soup. hope that makes sense. My OS plan is to do one big potful of 'something' and portion up for freezer then use as basis. Next step will be something with mince. I know that this is something a lot of you do anyway, but it has just dawned on me that one ring on, under one big pan for an hour or so can actually do the basic cooking of a lot of meals.
Having said that, today is a £10 M&S dine-in Sunday lunch! We chose the chicken so we could have extra meals, the roast pots because I'm feeling lazy, and the apple and bramble (I think bramble?) pie as, again, it will feed us again. Nice bottle of white. Yum. Might get Sunday papers and have a lazy afternoon.

I've been sleeping really late in the mornings - still tired after long hours finishing my chapter for 'that' deadline but goodness, that was a week ago tomorrow. Must be my age:p.

(((hugs))) to those who are unwell, MIA, feeling sad or stressed.

Hester - That's really great he has a boss that cares about his employees
wmf - it's not your age - trust me! :) Enjoy your lazy day - you've earnt it!
honey - welcome to OS

A lazy sunday for me after a manic week - we've had back to back conferences up here all week so I'm shattered, then I got an e-mail from a collaborator who needed data I generated two years ago. I am not the worlds most organised person and my hard drive decided to collapse, so I spent two days typing out 86 pages from scratch. Meh. Next week it is the dept annual retreat, which I'm not looking forward to one bit. There is only so much chromosome biology I can take.

Today I have to get my passport photos taken and send off the forms for renewing it. It seems very straightforward - so I keep thinking I've missed something! I have a couple of things to post and then I've almost finished my to-do list, which is a weird feeling!

Dinnner is quorn shepards pie made with swede instead of potato - so not really shephardfs pie at all. I made a lemming cake yesterday too :)

have a good day all, cel x
