Not sure where you are based but I got my photos taken in Gordon's chemist in Belfast City Centre and they have the regulations for both British and Irish passports. They ask which one you are applying for and make sure that the photos are up to the standard.

Got wife & kids photo's done in a Gordons Chemist and they did have the "regulations" but try getting a 1 1/2 year old and 3 year old to sit still looking straight at a camera looking dead pan for more than 10 seconds takes some patience :rotfl:

Cheers everyone, great advice as usual! Hubby took the passport to the local PSNI, signed and stamped no problem. Sent on Saturday by Passport Express in the P.O. for an extra £6 quid, lets hope the photo is ok..

When people here are saying that the PSNI verified "it", what is "it"? Is it the forms or something else? I never thought of asking my GP or dentist to countersign the forms but then I haven't been at my new GP longer than 2 years and I try to avoid my dentist at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just sent off for a British 1st passport for the little 'un so hopefully there not as fussy about photos as my renewal took 2 photo attempts as in the first set my natural facial expression meant my lips were slightly parted! The second set were fine but if they're using these for facial recognition then how does it matter?

I was also quite cheeky and went into the passport office where the girl checked the forms for free instead of the £8 service the post office offer. I was told if they dealt with the forms in house the passport fee rose from £49 to £90+ as they only do the fast track type service in the passport office. Needless to say I opted for the cheaper option and chanced my arm asking the girl to check for me - well the place was empty so it kept her busy!

My OH sent for his Irish passport renewal through the Post Office service, it was back within 2 weeks, even with the strike.

I also sent mine and the 3 kids for renewal through the Brisitish passport service, just left them in directly to the office in Belfast. So far I have had mine and 2 of the kids processed, within 10 days, still waiting for my other child, hopefully it will be here soon.

I used the Express service via the Post Office to get an Irish one for my son for a school trip in June. It took nearly a month and the school were really on his back about it as they wanted all the passports in for checking before Easter. The very first time we use the service and they go on strike!!
