Passport Express service - Irish passports

Options
Greetings :o

I was just wondering if anyone has used the Passport Express service in a Norn Iron Post Office for renewing an irish passport??? My OH is cutting it fine now, and l know there is a delay in processing due to a strike. We're heading off at end of July so l'm not panicking , really...

Anyone have an experience of this?

Cheers

Yes. I used it and it was back with me in 2 weeks. They are very particular about the photo and I have heard of it being sent back if the photo isn't perfect, so be careful about that. Also, they phone the person who signs to verify your identity, so make sure you get a phone number for them that they will be available on.
  • My OH has just used it and it took 3 weeks to get it returned due to the strike.

A minister of religion, a serving principal of a school can also do it.

Why not opt for a British one providing you have held a British one before in your own name you can make an appointment for Belfast and get it in either a day @ £129.50 or a week for £112.50. The lines are open 7 days a week from 7 am - 11pm
  • My OH went to his dentist who didn't charge anything

If you have accountant in your workplace, they can sign it for you.

I took mine into the PSNI station and they stamped and verified it free of charge. I sent mine off last year using the express service and it was back within 8 days.
  • Any registered accountant can sign it.... your work is bound to have one. My wife and kids had theirs back in 10 days!! And the are VERY VERY picky about the photos. We had ours taken 4 times before the guy at the post office said yeah they would do. He had quite some experience in processing the forms and let me know if he didn't think they would be ok.. Meant having to nip back to the chemist 4 times but they did them for free each time after not a problem...

Not sure where you are based but I got my photos taken in Gordon's chemist in Belfast City Centre and they have the regulations for both British and Irish passports. They ask which one you are applying for and make sure that the photos are up to the standard.

Make sure too that any certificates you are sending are the 'Government issue' ones from the General Register Office, as church marriage certificates are NOT acceptable. Finding that out held mine up by about 3 weeks.
