Query regarding Tesco direct

Hi everyone!
I would be very appreciative if someone could give me some guidance.
On Thursday I bought something with Tesco Direct and it arrived this morning. When I ordered it it was priced at £29.00.
I checked the website this morning and the very same item is now £14.00 - a saving of £15.
I still have my item sealed and unopened along with my delivery docket. Question is: Am i within my right to phone and ask them to refund the difference?
I know I am entitled to take the goods back to a tesco store and receive a full refund and in the mean time re-order the goods but to be honest, that seems more hassel than a simple phone call!
I know people here will say you were happy to pay £29 at the time so whats the big deal etc...but at the end of the day, £15 is a substantial drop in price and this is MSE afterall....
Thanks for all your help everyone!

No, you have no legal right to ask them to refund the difference. However, there is no harm in asking.Gone ... or have I?0

You have no rights to the difference back, the only way you could get the item at the new price would be to either send it back under the DSR's or take it into store and get a refund and then re-order...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

You are (unfortunately in my opinion) within your rights to return the item under the DSR's and then order the product at the cheaper price. They do not have to make it easier for you by refunding the difference, they can insist on you having to do it the hard way if they want to.0

I had a similar problem recently and I contacted the company asking for a couple of extras (value £10). They had reduced prices by 30% which was about £30 before I even received the item.
They said no, so the items were sent back under DSR, all I initially wanted was a token gesture but all they have managed to do is lose a customer. I probably bought from them 4-6 times a year with a value of over £50 at a time.0 -
I'd phone tesco direct, I had the same issue in Jan and they just refunded the the difference as it was within the 28 days from purchase. Saved them the bother of picking it to get another brought out

You can ask but your not entitled to the difference,0

I think that Tesco Direct should be raided by Trading Standards for ripping off the OP. WE should close down traders like these that carry on like this, let us give the staff their P45s, afet a week on Dartmoor.
Power to the Consumer0 -
Not once have I said anything along the lines of feeling ripped off etc...I was merely asking a question to get opinions of other MSE's, not to be met with people taking the pi$$ and making out like I'm a criminal or a cheat for asking what would I be best doing! Or whether they agree with DSR rights etc....
If you don't have to pay £15 extra, then why should you?
This is MSE afterall....and should be about the best way of saving money! The same way hotukdeals is about finding the best deal, mse is about saving money!
Thanks to those who actually gave their opinion and not a lecture!0 -

What on earth are you on about?!
If the OP was happy paying the initial price and they hadnt noticed the decrease in price, then there would be no issue!
At the end of the day, Tesco have done nothing wrong. You ordered, they sent.
This forum is meant for people who have been genuinely ripped off, not for people who have noticed that a price has changed, all thats happened is Tesco have rearranged their catalogues a little and changed some prices.
And all this "power to the consumer" nonsense....... I, like many others, will continue to shop at Tescos regardless of people like you.... they have good all round prices, they are local, convenient and also offer clubcard points which pay for a weekly shop every 3 months!0 -
The problem is, OP, is that there are numerous threads posted along similar lines of yours every week and the answer is the same ........no you don't have an automatic right to the difference being refunded.
Conversely if the price had increased what would have been your reaction if Tesco had phoned up and asked you to pay the difference?
By all means phone and ask - as you say it would save returning the item and ordering a replacement, and in my book if you don't ask you don't get - but don't be surprised if they turn you down.2014 Target;
