The Icelanders arent bothered.
http://www.icenews.is/
The leading story in their press is about Randy Rabbits reproducing following their escape from the Islands."Premier Rabbit show" ROTFL....and i thought life in the UK was boring.
What other plague will they visit upon us? An outbreak of Myxomatosis due to rampaging amorous rabbits stowing away on trawlers and escaping ashore in Grimsby?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Very useful - everyone should be aware.
My wife's group in Rome were due to fly back Thursday lunchtime.
The latest I have is that Jet2 at the airport offered them a *generous* full refund or a night's hotel stay and having to rebook on a later flight. No other info and the refund was pushed very heavily.
As there was no help at all from the ABTA holiday firm they were travelling with they went for the refund which seemed to be the only efficient part of the airline's service that day and are on their way back on their own - 2 nights hotel in Rome, overnight train to Paris and then Eurostar on Monday.
If they had better information (duty of care etc) they might have been able to make a more informed judgement.0 -
That's because they can't afford to fly anywhere, with their currency.C_Mababejive wrote: »The Icelanders arent bothered.0 -
Once they take the refund, any duty of care stops, that's why it's being pushed.
Wonder if we will see "refunds" appearing on peoples credit cards soon.
(And be careful any ammendment isn't a refund, and a new booking a week later.)0 -

A natural occurrence in Iceland is causing an ongoing spewing of volcanic ash into the upper atmosphere which is being circulated by the prevailing weather over much of Western Europe.
Very expensive Aero engines dont like it. they are very simple devices which only like to suck in great volumes of air and wont tolerate volcanic ash.
As a result, airlines wont fly their planes becuase expensive damage and/or death may result.
Thats it.....so live with it.
Oh dear.its a whacko.
Look closer at the thread my friend.
Its actually about helping people and giving advice.0 -

Regarding keeping receipts for accommodation, etc. Can you extend your stay in your existing hotel, regardless of it's cost? Will the airline pay for any level of accommodation?0

I was discussing that with a relative who is currently stranded outside europe but booked on BA. Her reckoning is that it is totally "reasonable" to continue to stay in your existing hotel as you have shown, by choosing that accommodation when you were footing the bill yourself, that that is "reasonable" for you. I did suggest that maybe the airline may expect you to move to an airport style cheaper hotel, but she isn't moving.
It is all about making the best of things and her attitude is that as she is forced to extend her holiday, she is going to enjoy it. If the result is that she won't get all the hotel bill back, she will reduce her budget for her next holiday.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Thanks Cityboy. The reason for asking the question is that a colleague is in a 5 star hotel in Tenerife and should have been returning tomorrow, which is obviously not going to happen! He's not able to get any info from anyone there and is struggling to get to a computer due to the demand.0
