thanks for that - its good to know what the proper regulations are rather than what the airlines are saying.

This is very useful. My flight from Milan to Edinburgh was cancelled this morning. Easyjet check-in staff handed me a modified version of the regulations, referring to the regulation number mentioned above, which states that they do not have an obligation to provide care in circumstances outwith their control. Total nonsense! It amazes me how bold they are.

If you are stranded abroad ie no money and no way to get home then the consulate should be able to advise British passport holders. They can't give you money but they can tell you how to arrange for money to be transferred from the UK.

Consular Assistance team in London can be reached on:
    020 7008 1500 (+44 20 7008 1500 from abroad)
This number operates 24 hours a day

  • Thanks Cityboy.

Does this apply when flying out from the UK then returning with the same airline on a non-EU airline i.e. Royal Air Maroc from London to Morocco and back?

My father is stuck in Mumbai at the moment .He was due to fly with Air India back to London on Friday.

Is he entitled to any accommodation costs? I'm aware he's flying from a non-EU airline into the EU...

I called Air India and they said no.

    Good point.
Swiss International Air Lines were taken over by the German airline Lufthansa in 2005.
