Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for 17th April 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Good Morning All

Where are you all?

Welcome Camelot & all other newbies. :hello:

Well we haven't managed to get away for the weekend, as we have to have all the prepping done for the plasterer on Monday. Haven't posted for a couple of days as was trying to get my head straight after Tuesday.

OS wise using up fridge/freezer, and not much point dusting atm to be honest. Ordered some fruit trees/bush for the garden and deciding what we what to take out and what to keep.

Will have Sunday in the garden if we are finished.

Cracking day here in that famous Lancashire coastal resort.

Lovely dawn, all sort of sparkly & very colourful ... no sign of any ash here yet. OH texted from somewhere in northern Europe to say "DON'T wipe the new car as it's very abrasive" so my instructions are to rinse both cars with water using the hose on a gentle spray... He arrived in Brussels shortly after midnight, hopefully he has been able to swap his Eurostar ticket, otherwise he's stuck there until 5pm and won't get back up here until tomorrow.

Bedding was in the WM at 6.45 (guess who couldn't sleep? :o), on second cup of tea & some Soreen :p Chores today will include washing up & cleaning the kitchen, S&S the bathroom, dusting & polishing our bedroom furniture, having a leg wax, taking some parcels to the post office and returning some things to Primark that aren't right.

Hopefully I will get out into our little garden later to give the front a tidy-up & to shuffle some things around - I've got 4 growbags in the boot of my car that I need to get out too, then I can start planting my Dig-In seeds :D

    Have a fab day folks,
    Floss x

    Morning all,

Donny, hope you are ok, hope the hospital visit went well xx

Bright and beautiful here ( the weather not me :D), put one load on the line yesterday eve, have one in the wm and another to go in.

DD is away on a sleepover and OH at the boot sale, so just me and little dog here, thanks for all the good wishes re her leg, its 100 % back to normal now, a day of resting it seems to have worked, although she is now full of energy and will need a good run later.

Just having tea and toast, and will then get on, I have discovered some ground elder in the front garden, so I want to try and get that out before it takes over the garden, my mums garden is full of it, and its quite hard to get rid of it once established.

Oh is going to put another coat on the utility and loo, and I hope he will start to put some blinds up, I have three to go in the kitchen and a blackout one for dd's room.

Dinner tonight will be hot dogs in rolls, wedges, corn on the cob and coleslaw, nice easy tea as I am not sure what time dd will be in , as they are having a day at the beach, whats the betting that she phones to be picked up in the middle of Dr Who ??

Ok have good days all xx

Good Morning All from a very misty Essex - think it will be a beautiful day when the mist clears :j

Didn't get on yesterday in fact didn't turn my computer on all day :eek:which is unheard of for me. Had to get out early to go to the otherside of London to vosa to pick up our lorry which passed the vosa & police check with flying colours:j Is drivable at the moment & only needs cosmetic repairs so will sort that though the insurance next week. Now that means our driver and our vehicle were definately not at fault for the accident, the driver is also back at work & seems fine so that is all excellent news.

Not too much OS has been going on around here last few days & it really notices. Have got to go and pick a lorry up this morning with OH and this afternoon going to ignore all the stuff in the house & get into the garden.

Easy peasey m&s pizza's for tea which were on special. Must also remember to dig a chicken out of the freezer for tomorrow.

Hope you all enjoy your Saturday's & get to spend some time in the sun.x

    :hello: Morning!

Not so sunny here in Essex! Lots of strange mist, when you look closely you can see very very fine particles moving around! The cars look dusty as well! I think the volcanic cloud has arrived in Essex! Penny will have to wait for her walkies!:( The washing is staying inside too on the airers!

floss - thanks for the advice re-washing the cars! I hadn't thought of that and could have done a lot of damage to dh's beloved peugeot!:o:)

Spending has got a bit out of control recently with the start of dd's wedding planning, so from today I am fighting back! I need some ideas for cheap diy wedding favors! It does seem strange as we have only just got the photos from ds's wedding and now we are planning dd's wedding!

I will be putting some soup on later as dh has a very poorly mouth (gum and tooth abcess) anti-biotics have yet to kick in and he is in a lot of pain atm. Cheesy mash for dinner I think followed by bananas in custard, with smoothies (using up some frozen fruit) for during the day.

(((hugs))) to anyone poorly or stuck in airports, resorts etc., due to the volcano. Hoping it calms down soon!

    Catz x
